Jericho: Alternative ending coming to you on June 17

Millions of people are nuts for Jericho, they are truly passionate and committed to their show, so much that they managed to get the show a second season. But it wasn’t enough, they weren’t enough (according to Nielsen at least), sadly, to get the show to get renewed for a third season. There’s talk for such another season on another network, and after what happened to Friday Night Lights many hope.
As far as I’m concerned, I doubt this will happen, but if it was to actually happen, I would be the first to welcome the news and watch such new season. Meanwhile, when they worked on season two, two different endings were shot. As we know, CBS didn’t renew the show and aired the “series finale” ending, leaving the “season finale” one, who’s supposed to be even more opened, unseen by millions.
Since then, every fan of the show has been waiting to get to see that other ending, and we’ll all be able to see it on the DVDs of the second (and final) season of Jericho, coming June 17.
As it’s been said, and as the ending that actually aired on CBS showed, should there have been a third season, it would have followed a second civil war opposing the new Allied States versus the old United States.
I wonder how different that other ending was done, the main differences might come not in what actually happened, but in that we got to see all characters finding their way to a safe place.
The second season DVDs includes deleted scenes, the alternative ending, audio commentary and two behind-the-scenes featurettes : Nut Job, about how fans saved the series from cancellation after its first season, and Rebuilding Jericho, explaining how it was resurrected.
Sounds like a good gift for all Jericho nuts, and it’s coming June 17.
