Jack Bauer won’t go to Africa!

By fred | July 9, 2007

I’m Jack Bauer, damnit!Jack Bauer’s seventh day hasn’t even started, far from it, and the bad news are already accumulating for our hero, or his writers. For starter, and with no surprise, 24 (S06) has been named the second worst show on TV by the semiannual Television Week critics’ poll.

This will make sense to anyone who actually watched the show, as this season was the worst ever made, in every way.

This wasn’t to help writers, already feeling a lot of pressure for delivering, with the new season, a screenplay that would really reconciliate fans with the show. Yet Fox execs have just basically send the whole story line of the new season to the trash !

The storyline for this new season had Jack Bauer sent as far as Africa!, but the costs involved by having to actually go there to shoot the show were just to much. Producers briefly looked into a way to find a place in L.A. or around that would do the trick, but it was rapidly decided to simply drop the whole storyline and start over, from scratch!

So finally, finally writers had realized that it didn’t make any sense to keep both Jack & the terrorists always in Los Angeles and the area, and after their worst season ever and all the pressure, looks like they were ready to really shake things up.

Obviously, they have to do it all over again now. Mary-Lynn Rajskub, also known as Chloe, who only learned recently she would actually be returning this season, again, confirms that the clock has been reset.

I don’t know what’s going on over there, but they’re going crazy. We usually start [back up] at the end of July, and I don’t think we’re starting until a couple of weeks into August now. It’s kind of exciting, because I think [the postponement] means that they’re really having to dig in there and come up with new stuff.

Not to worry though, the premiere of “Day 7″ will most likely not be postponed. Now, will the writers be able to come up with a really good story in such short time, without rushing into clichés and classical plots, that’s all the question.
