It’s Official : Jericho Is Over !
By fred | March 21, 2008
After last episode on Tuesday, we all wondered what would happen to Jericho, and next week’s episode was still announced as the season finale, although at that time there hadn’t been no official decision made by CBS at to what finale to air : the one with a cliffhanger, for a third season, or the series finale.
Given the numbers that were never really good, below what the first season did and almost constantly going down. There wasn’t much suspense, but many fans still hoped for a renewal. Sadly, that is not what CBS did, as they officially canceled the show:
The March 25th episode of Jericho will be the series finale. Without question, there are passionate viewers watching this program; we simply wish there were more. We thank an engaged and spirited fan base for keeping the show alive this long, and an outstanding team of producers, cast and crew that went through creative hoops to deliver a compelling, high quality second season.
We have no regrets bringing the show back for a second try. We listened to our viewers, gave the series an opportunity to grow, and the producers put a great story on the screen. We’re proud of everyone’s efforts.
Tuesday will see the very last episode of Jericho, although it is said not to completely end things, leaving a little door open for the show to have a second life on a cable network, although I haven’t heard anything pointing to any such network being interested.
Recently executive producer Carol Barbee declared: “Jericho is unique because the fans saved it — watching it on the Internet and streaming and iTunes downloads, all those things that are not being counted. That’s what Jericho will be known for.”
Sad news for all Jericho fans no doubt, and I still remember how CBS did kill the show in its first season, and then only brought it back for a very shortened season of seven episodes. But at least we got to have an ending, we weren’t left in the middle of things, with a cliffhanger that never will get resolved. CBS did give a chance for producers to end the show and thank the fans for their support, so at least we got that. (And don’t kid yourself people, sending nuts won’t do anything now, not to CBS at least, so let it go…)
Meanwhile, all fans can enjoy the show and discuss the latest episode through the Jericho carnical: Blackjack Fairgrounds. And don’t miss the series finale, next Tuesday at 10.00 on CBS (a very good timeslot, right? Yeah CBS really wanted to give the show to another fair chance…)

it’s stupid how they take off decent shows like jericho but continue to broadcast horrible shit like survivor and american idol.
