I don’t want to hate House…

By fred | July 17, 2007

We have a lot of crap on TV, sadly. We also have lots of great shows that don’t get a real chance and are canceled and taken off the air before they could grow an audience. Which is always horrible for the few we still try and watch shows before they’ve been renewed for a second season.

House - Hugh LaurieBut that’s not to say that all good things on TV are taken off, there are many great shows on TV. Obviously Lost comes to mind, but even before that is FOX’s medical drama House.

Without a doubt House is (one of) the greatest show there is. It is fresh, funny, brilliantly written, and performances of that show are amazing, starting with winners of many many well deserved awards Hugh Laurie, who’s work on the show is simply fantastic.
If you didn’t get it by now, I mean to say it’s a grand show, and I love it.

That being said, of course I really don’t want to hate the show, yet I can’t help myself. I’m starting to hate the show, and especially its writers, for what they’ve done, and are (probably) going to do.

See, as you know if you read a few of my reviews, one thing I hate - surely you too if you watch (a lot) of TV - is when TV shows resorts to some big old cliché. There is nothing more depressing I think than seeing one of those on a show. What you want when watching a TV show is to be surprised, challenged, you don’t want to rightfully guess the whole plot within the first seconds of the episode.

House is a brilliantly written show, and I really love it. But the way they closed last season has me to worry a lot. House works with his very own team of three doctors to help him and, well, do all the work that’s not fun or involved leaving the office and talking to the patient!

But this season, one got fired, and the two others just quit. And I have nothing against that fact on its own, except that I would miss them. (Especially gorgeous cutie Cameron, by Jennifer Morrison).

One big stinky cliché reads as such : fire people, have them to resign, to move away, when a season ends. And then, when the next season starts, just get them back, somehow.

This is exactly what they did on The 4400 : Diana quit and she, Maia and her boyfriend moved away to Spain. That was last season. This season, it only took a couple of episodes for her to have her old job back, same one, down to her partner, and live back in her old place with Maia. Like nothing ever happened…

I agree with what you said, but the only thing is…I don’t want them to start all over with new ducklings, he is going to be figuring them out, they are going to be getting used to him….this is all BS! We already had wonderful team, and they could evolve characters from there!
But…if they chose to do this, to get rid of all of them, they need to deal! The only reason I would stop watching this show is if Cameron doesn’t come back or Cuddy has House’s baby…lol…If they make this Olivia chic another Cameron and start all over, I’ll puke…

Oh God! Cuddy having House’s baby… lol

No I doubt they’ll just use the new doctors as “clones”, but they will be House new “toys” for sure, hopefully at least a couple of them will stand up.

But as I said, I would have liked it best if only Cameron would come back, but the others were definately gone. Having everyone one leave on to bring them back is a bit lame, especialy Foreman (nothing against him) who was “really” leaving, as in the Hostipal, and city, etc…
Not like Cameron who might have quit working for House only, not leave the Hospital - same could also apply to Chase.

One thing for sure, it’s gonna get crowded, with the original trio still around (just maybe not working for House, or not directly) and thos new additions, especially since word is Edi Gathegi has been hired as well!

BTW one or two of them (those that the public will like best) might end up being series regular!

Past tense of quit is quit, not quitted.
