How I Met Your Mother Exclusive: And The Mother Is…

It’s the big mystery about CBS hit-sitcom How I Met Your Mother, the question everyone is asking and only future Ted knows the answer, but he’s got the terrible thing of really flavoring the short version. But who is the mother ?

Some thought it was Stella, some said she’s got a yellow umbrella, others don’t think it’s a mystery at all and couldn’t care less! But if you really want to find out, we have the answer for you. And the mother is…

…Lily!

Yes, former Buffy The Vampire Slayer co-stars Alyson Hannigan and husband Alexis Denisof are announced that they are expecting their first child this spring.

A happy news the writers of the show probably knew already, and they probably decided to integrate the pregnancy into the show. Remember that little flash-forward in 2009, when everyone was sitting in their favorite bar, celebrating, and Lily did not drink ?

Many thought it might be a sign of something, and it seems it was indeed. We don’t know where they will be actually living at that time, but if Marshall and Lily are having a kid one can safely assume they moved into their own apartment…

Oh and, no, still no word on who the mother of Ted’s kids is, but who cares about that mother, really?

EDIT: Recently asked to comment, co-creator Carter Bays told TV Guide that they “are thrilled for Alyson and Alexis, and we know that they are going to be amazing parents. It’s too early to say how this will impact the show going forward, although we may have to push the ‘Lily wins a gold medal in gymnastics’ storyline to next season.”
