Heroes’ viewers are morons, says creator Tim Kring

By fred | November 20, 2008

HeroesOMG. I’ve always been quite certain that Tim Kring was a failure who had no idea what to do with the show, hence why every season has been a disaster and why every year he comes out to explain that yes there were mistakes, but now they know better and will fix things, so wait for the next volume/season, cause that one will kick ass! Of course…

And I never understood why so many people seems to think it was good, that he could acknowledge his mistakes and that things weren’t perfect with the show, when he was clearly saying that he had absolutely no idea what to do with the show, where to bring it, what to do with those characters, there is a complete lack of creative vision behind the show.

But now this is even better, and by the way if you’re watching Heroes, Kring thinks you’re a “dips**s” — his words.

Okay, so according to Kring the failure of Heroes is easy to trace back to one thing : serialization. Yes, because serialization - according to Kring - is “a very flawed way of telling stories on network television right now, because of the advent of the DVR and online streaming. The engine that drove [serialized TV] was you had to be in front of the TV [when it aired]. Now you can watch it when you want, where you want, how you want to watch it, and almost all of those ways are superior to watching it on air. So [watching it] on air is related to the saps and the dips**s who can’t figure out how to watch it in a superior way.

Jesus, could this guy be more of a moron !??

First things first, the audience of his show is shrinking every week, less and less people are still watching, and the way to help things, according to Kring, is to start by insulting each of every one of the few million still tuning in. “Hey, are you still watching Heroes every Monday on NBC ?? Well then you’re nothing but a stupid moron! I should know, I write the show!” Way to go, smartass, cause insulting your audience is always a smart move.

Then, if that arrogance wasn’t enough, let’s hear this : Kring says that DVR and new ways of watching television are hurting serialized shows more than anything else ?? What a load of crap. Not only does it hurt every show out there, serialized or not, but it’s also what makes people love and enjoy serialized series more, because they know they can record it and watch it later, when they want to, when they can, not when someone else wants to force them to. It’s because they don’t fear to be missing out on things that they feel they can invest so much time into such a show.

If there was no DVR and online viewing, Lost wouldn’t be as successful as it is. Because miss an episode and you’re screwed, and people would get annoyed by that. But more importantly, while Lost might not be the biggest hit on TV these days, it’s still doing very well and is a clear success, very much acclaimed. And I’m pretty sure that if ABC keeps the show going and is pleased with it, it is because while not pulling CSI numbers, the show does work great, and with such a passionate fan base - very fond of DVR and other new technologies - loving the show and buying all the DVDs, they’re making money.

But the key of Lost success wasn’t to do what everybody else was doing or what seemed to be working at the time, it was quite the contrary : to be unique, to be different, to be like nothing else, and ore important than anything else : to be great. It’s because Lost has never been as good as last season, delivering one fantastic episode after the other, that the show does so well. Because the writers decided to focus on one thing : making sure to write great scripts.

I think Kring should stop insulting the few viewers he’s got left, stop blaming his fault on whatever he can think of, and maybe try to make a good show for a change.

If people are not watching Heroes anymore it’s not because it’s a serialized show, it’s because it’s pure crap, because no one ever dies and there must be about 108 regular on the show right now, because every character keeps being a good guy, a villain, a good guy again but turn back to villain, because there’s 23 timelines going on at the same time, and none of them makes any sense, because every character is more stupid than the next, and because, simply put, the show sucks.

Every season Kring apologies for the mistakes made and promises to fix things, but the fact and the matter is, he doesn’t. He doesn’t know how to, I’m not even sure he cares. He keeps trying to do what he thinks people want, what should work, what others did or what used to work. Again, there is absolutely no vision for the show, no one knows where any of this is going, every week or two a new plot comes out of nowhere to try to give a sense of something to the show, then gets dropped into a bunch of non-sense.

The show was supposed to be about ordinary people developing abilities, and now it’s a mockery, there are no more ordinary people, more abilities than people, it’s all a joke, an awful, long, boring bad joke. And now, Kring says he wants to turn Heroes into a procedural show, and drop the whole concept of serialization, not because he believes that’s where the show should be heading, not because it makes sense as the next evolution for the show and the characters and stories involved, but just because he thinks procedural shows get more viewers, hence more money, and that’s what he wants.

So doesn’t think it would be good for the show, but could get more viewers to watch, and more money for him. But then again, after calling names the viewers left watching despite how much the show sucks, Kring is now willing to alienate them even more by turning the show into something else completely than what it originally used to be, than what it is now, than what it should be, or than what it was supposed to be. Yeah, sounds like a good plan indeed… dips***!

Any one still watching Heroes out there ? Would you be interested to see the show turned into a boring procedural ? Is that really what you’re looking for ? How does it feel to get insulted by the show’s creator because you’re still watching ?
