Gossip Girl’s identity : A promo stunt

So you know how yesterday many wondered and discussed about the “big revelation” made regarding The CW’s new show, Gossip Girl. Allegedly, GG was unmasked, the secret identity of the mysterious blogger was said to be revealed, and that it came only before the reveal was actually made on the air, within the show.

Once the news was out, many questioned the veracity of the info, mainly because neither made sense : that they would reveal the identity of GG, which never was a mystery to begin with because it doesn’t really matters, or that it would be whoever they said it was.

By the way, special note to many out there : the voice of Gossip Girl heard on the show, courtesy of Kristen Bell, is obviously not the voice of the actual Gossip Girl “character”, if there’s one, but only a narration device used because it’s a TV show so they couldn’t just have us to read text on screen. The argument that it can’t be [insert character here] because that’s not his/her voice is just ludicrous.

But today I just read that The CW is actually planning a very special event regarding Gossip Girl, they have a “special 90-minute Gossip Girl Revealed” event coming up ! No, the identity of GG won’t be revealed then, but guess what they have in store for us : That’s right, the very first episode of the show, which will air in its entirety.

Granted, that should be “re-air” since it’s not really new, and you’ve probably seen it already. Ok, but what about that then : there will be little “behind-the-scenes” moments and other “never-before-seen” bonus material as well as interviews with cast members. Are you starting to get excited about this ? No, still not ?

What about this then : the identify of the mysterious Gossip Girl has been leaked onto the Internet !! To which a publicist for The CW would reply, “We don’t know where this rumor came from, but invite everyone to check out Monday night repeats to look for clues to Gossip Girl’s identity themselves.” Now, how does that sound ? Better, right?

Hint: one of the aforementioned clues comes from Gossip Girl herself : “Who am I ? That’s the only secret I’ll never tell!”

And for those interested, the special, 90-minute Gossip Girl Revealed, will air Monday, January 28 at 8.00.
