Gossip Girl Identity Revealed ??

If you’re a fan, or just a (regular) viewer of The CW’s new series Gossip Girl, one thing you know is that no one knows the identity of the famous blogger, Gossip Girl. Not on the show, where they only have her phone number, not outside the show either.
But recently Ben Widdicombe from Daily News made this “amazing” revelation, as he claims to know the identify of Gossip Girl, for “real”. Not only that, but what follow may be spoilery (although I for one doubt of its accuracy) so if you’re watching the show and don’t even want to know, don’t click. For others…
So Widdicombe claims that he knows the identify of Gossip Girl, and not only that, that it was intended to be revealed on the show this season !! “Since the writers’ strike, the team hasn’t decided how or when to reveal who the Gossip Girl is, but it is Eric van der Woodsen, played by Connor Paolo.”
Okay, so I don’t know about you, but as far as I’m concerned, I don’t believe it for one second. Not that Eric is Gossip Girl, and not that whoever it really is would be revealed on the show, especially not during its first season !
I mean come on people, if JJ Abrams & Damon Lindelof had told us what the Island was all about in episode 10, what was the point to keep watching ? I’m not saying this is the only reason we’re watching Lost, but obviously it matters, quite a lot. Now if, and I do say if, such a reveal had to take place, you can bet it wouldn’t happen that early on, especially given how the show was doing good and had been picked up for a full season, so it really wasn’t desperate to create some buzz and excitement about it.
Besides, it’s not like this show has ever been about Gossip Girl herself. She’s only used as a narration device, mostly, but to find out more about her serves really no interest. It’s not even like How I Met Your Mother, which has made the issue of finding out who the mother actually was matter. Here, we’d never find out who GG is and we wouldn’t really care.
In fact, I’m even thinking that none of the writers know who GG is, because they probably never really cared about that. Again, also she plays about her identify being the only secret she’ll never tell, who really hides behind Kristen Bell’s voice is not a mystery in the show, not because we know, but because it doesn’t matter.
So if I was to bet, I would bet on this whole things being completely bogus. Also, the fact that GG might be a guy is no real surprise, I’ve thought about this ever since the show started. I also wondered if it could be an adult, and not one of the kids. And to be honest, if we were to ever find out, I would say chances are that behind the name “Gossip Girl” hides more than just one person…
