George Clooney to return to ER??

By fred | August 23, 2007

Dr Ross (George Clooney)Of course, Clooney’s Dr Ross left the ER - and the city - of Chicago a while ago, but rumors have been around for some time and getting stronger each day : the show might very well be heading into its 14th and very last season!

Despite the lack of official definite confirmation, we’re almost there and the rumors appear to be even more true as producers of the show are trying to bring back many of the old emblematic cast members of NBC medical drama.

So far, Noah Wyle (Dr John Carter) has already signed to come back for multiple episodes, and “he’ll be in Chicago in the ER, interacting with all our people” confirmed executive producer David Zabel to TVGuide.

Carter will be back to check out the Joshua Carter Center, a gift he made with his family money in memory of his son, and - of course - some medical concern. Additionally, they’re also hoping to be able to get Thandie Newton (Carters wife Kem) back as well.

Producers are also already thinking about stories that could involved many others, like Jeannie Boulet (Gloria Reuben), David Morgenstern (William H. Macy), Kerry Weaver (Laura Innes), more recent members Ray (Shane West) or the great Peter Benson (Eriq La Salle).

They are also trying to work something out with Julianna Margulies in order to bring back Carol Hathaway back. “Julianna’s doing a show now (midseason’s Canterbury’s Law), but we can always write a story that can shoot in a couple of days” told Zabel.

And of course, it is impossible to mention Carol without having a thought for Ross. Getting George Clooney would of course be a dream come true for many fans & producers, and it could very well happened.

Clooney already returned to the show for one episode, to wrap up his story with Carol, and I’m sure he’d be happy to join in for a few episodes in order to out an end to the great show that made him a star.

So there’s hope & potential for a great, emotional ending… although I think it’d be best to focus more on medical matters. Too bad the one doctor many of us would have loved to see back won’t be, because Dr Greene (Anthony Edwards) is gone for good.
