Fox won’t let you Drive

By fred | July 9, 2007

Remember Drive? No? Well, I can’t really blame you as Fox nicely decided to took it off the air after only four episodes! Which was, not surprisingly, a very stupid idea, as the show was pretty good, different from others, and despite not being always interesting (too much boring talk while driving around) it still always delivered a good hour of entertainment.

DriveBut the show got canceled after only six episodes were made, of which only four had made it to the air. Thus leaving Fox with 2 episodes, that obviously will not give any answers or some kind of resolution to the main plot, but would still be enjoyed by all fans/viewers of the show, for the few - and every day fewer - who still try to watch new shows before they ended their first season, and got renewed.

And it was planned to air them on July 4th, at first. Then of course Fox decided to postponed everything, moving them to July 13th. Well, looks like they changed their mind again, and took Drive off, again.
Only this time, no word of when, or if, they’ll come back.

This reminds me of ABC’s mess with DayBreak, when they pretended of some obscure song-related problems not do put the remaining episode of the show on their website.

Fun fact: I knew Drive wouldn’t last as soon as I saw Kristin Lehman as screen. I don’t why, but I have somehow associated her with shows that fails, like Tilt or Killer Instinct.
Sure those weren’t great shows, even though Killer Instinct wasn’t (at first) so bad.

Anyways, hopefully the last two episodes of Drive will made it to Fox’s website, as I doubt they’ll make it to the air eventually. Especially since no one remembers the show already, and it get worst every time they delay it some more.

I wish they would realize that this is exactly why people watch less and less new shows : they don’t want to starting getting into a show to get slapped in the face only 2 or 3 episodes later, when some stupid execs decide it’s enough & should be taken off the air. Even during summer season, for shows that are only 13 episodes long, and good, and don’t do so bad, and even promoted as “watch safely, it will air till the end”….

Edit: So it’s official now, the two episodes won’t make it to the air. Still unsure yet whether or not they will find their way to the show’s MySpace page, which does feature the previous ones.
