Fox and The CW join CBS in dropping new projects

Yesterday I reported that CBS was dropping about 20 projects for their upcoming pilot season, mentioning that other networks might follow that lead soon after.
Well, it didn’t take very long as today reports indicates that both Fox and The CW are doing the same already. Fox was the first to announce that they were dropping several scripts of both dramas and comedies previously ordered, declaring that “in the current environment, we’ve been forced to take a hard look at our needs for the upcoming season, and as a result we’re going to target a more focused range of projects.”
A few hours after, it was turn for The CW to join the train and announce that “due to the ongoing work stoppage, The CW will be taking a more targeted approach to what is certain to be a truncated pilot season. As a result, we are releasing some scripts that had been in development in order to dedicate our creative energy and resources to those projects we choose to pursue.”
Rumor has it than ABC could be next to announce a drop of about 30% of their pilots order. No word on what NBC will do, although it’s been announced that one of their projects from last season, which got delayed for casting issues (as well as going through a rewrite), finally found its two leads in Molly Shannon (seen recently on Pushing Daisies) and Selma Blair. Based on an Australian hit, Kath & Kim focuses on relationship problems between a mother and her daughter.
