Dollhouse Fans Wants To Save The Show From Cancellation Before It Even Airs !!

Because obviously, if everyone has heard of the show and gotten excited, or simply curious about it, by the time it premieres, this can only help. And if the show then reveals to actually be as good as everyone hoped (or better), then all conditions for a success will be met.
In other words, because based on previous experience with the creative people involved in the show, they are expecting it to be good, and because they also know the network it’s on hasn’t the greatest history with new (sci-fi) series, all they’re doing is promoting it. Just like Fox is putting posters for Fringe everywhere, just like NBC spent dozens of millions of dollars last year for Bionic Woman, all we’re talking about here is promotion. Except here, it comes from the viewers. Also, I’m pretty sure that coming from Whedon, it will be nowhere near the crap that Bionic Woman was.
And seeing how a lot of people are indeed talking about this, I’d say it’s working already!
Of course there is a risk with it. Because while I really doubt creating a lot of buzz and hype about the show could “highlight” a possibility for failure/cancellation, what it could do is get people loaded with pretty high expectations. And one easy way to get people disappointed about anything, is overselling it, is first making them believe it’s the greatest thing ever, and have them feel let down even if the show was actually good.
I should also mention that things have changed over at Fox, and Dollhouse even received a 13-episode order already, which might tend to indicate the network actually believes in the show. Of course, I’m sure they believed in Firefly or Drive, you know, at first…
But as long as this remains from fans of Whedon only trying to support his latest project, I don’t see anything “wrong” with this, as it’s been sometimes reported elsewhere. Again, as they have said themselves : “We know that Fox is under new regime and are supporting the show completely. We would like the fans to be just as proactive as the network and hype the show to the best of their abilities — so no one can ever say “we should have done this, we should have done that”.”
And to end with a smile, still, here’s a funny comic about the whole thing, courtesy of hijinksensue.com

So, are you excited/curious about the show yet ? Or do you still need Josh to walk around without any pants on…
