Dirty Sexy Money Shakeup

By fred | June 18, 2008

Dirty Sexy MoneyABC’s drama Dirty Sexy Money was already back in production for its second season, with three episodes already done, when everything had to be shut down, due to behind-the-scenes “adjustments”.

Showrunner Daniel Cerone is out, after the studios didn’t deem fit the new direction for the show Cerone had in mind. Cerone wanted the show to take a darker turn for its second season, but apparently the studios want the show to keep things very superficial and light I guess, which kinda suck if you ask me, but then again I was never really a fan of the show anyways.

Daniel Cerone, who used to be a showrunner on Showtime’s Dexter before, has now stepped down as executive producer/showrunner of Dirty Sexy Money after four months, and will be replaced with Jon Feldman - who has previously created Fox’s Tru Calling or another 2007 ABC drama series, Big Shots - who will be the third showrunner in the show’s short life, after Josh Reims and Daniel Cerone since February 2008.

Cerone is said to still be liked at ABC Studios, with whom he still has a two-year overall deal. “Right now I’ll be focusing my attention on development. I’m looking forward to the opportunity to create new shows for the studio and network.” he declared.

Production on Dirty Sexy Money was planned to go on a hiatus in July, but has now been shut down already to give time to Feldman to get up to speed and do the retooling he deems necessary. Shooting is expected to resume as planned after the July hiatus. Feldman will serve on Dirty Sexy Money as an executive producer alongside creator Craig Wright, Greg Berlanti, Matthew Gross and Bryan Singer.

As I said, I wasn’t really a fan of the show, I always felt it wasn’t really good, like something was missing to make it more than just yet another soap-drama filled with filthy rich people. Was a darker turn as Cerone intended the way to bring more light on Dirty Sexy Money, was it a change you would have been looking forward to, or do you want the show to remain on a lighter side, as it will likely do with Feldman ?
