Diane Farr leaving Numb3rs ?!

By fred | March 28, 2008

Diane FarrApparently things aren’t looking so good for Numb3rs next season, as female lead Diane Farr has opted not to renew her contract. The CBS show returns with new episodes on April 4, and according to Michael Ausiello Megan Reeves will leave during those six episodes, no word on how she will actually do that though.

Seems that the show somehow fails to secure a female character for their FBI team that will stay long enough on the show. First Sabrina Lloyd left, and Farr took over. And I have to say I do like her character, and I thought that her romance with Peter MacNicol’s Larry was actually a really nice & sweet thing. It was a real shame to see Larry vanish for a large part of the season, as MacNicol for some unexplainable reasons went to venture into the abyss of the awful season of 24, and now that he’s finally back, she is leaving !

I’m not a fan of the show, but I do like it and enjoy it every week - or I used to when CBS aired something else than reruns. I think it really sucks that the Megan & Larry romance will have to end, obviously, especially since it was just starting really. To be honest, though, I’d much rather keep him than her, but I wish we could keep them both around.

Meanwhile, producers are already searching for Farr’s replacement, and began casting the role of Nikki Donati, an ex-LAPD officer described as a full-blown adrenaline junkie whose gritty street perspective makes her a great foil for her boss, who joined the FBI in search of a “bigger and badder” challenge. Somehow I don’t like that, because it sounds too typical of a cop drama, I wish they wouldn’t forget that what made Numb3rs good was that it wasn’t just another cop show…
