Cold Case star wants more fun!

While the shooting of the next season of Cold Case is starting, Kathryn Morris is expressing her disappointment towards of character’s personal evolution and the whole secrecy that goes around the show.
She does state a few things that clearly sound like she isn’t enjoying her time on Cold Case that much, both regarding her character and the show more generally.
Seeing as the new season’s shooting is starting, this seems like an odd time to try and influence contract negotiations, and whether it is or not, it just doesn’t sound really good…
You don’t hear much spoilers about the show, because producers are keeping everything as “secret” as they can, to the apparent dislike of Morris. “One of my not-favorite things about the show is that it’s so top secret, it’s been holding us in by the reins. I think it held us back when the show was really premiering in a strong way, and it’s become even more secretive as the years have gone on, and that’s been a disappointment to me.”
I’ll say I’m not sure why she would feel bad about that specific fact, because this doesn’t affect her directly. And secrecy around a show, or the lack of even, doesn’t really reflect neither the show’s quality nor its popularity.
Neither does the buzz it can generate.
She does seem to think so, though, and expand it even a little further, implying this could also be a reason behind the absence of (Emmy) nominations for the show : “Even though we’ve been a regular hit, we’ve been under the radar — with no nominations.”
I’m not sure this is quite true. I mean, sure, Emmy nominations and votes are done based on popularity and other things unrelated to the actual quality of the actual shows, as those morons don’t watch TV, but blame the secrecy around the show for the fact that Cold Case, despite doing very well, didn’t get nominations - is going a bit too far.
Morris says also she’s not so happy with how her character, detective Lilly Rush, as evolved over the years. “I feel like Lilly has gotten bogged down in the last few years.”
She’d like (for her) to have more fun, be sexier, so apparently morph into a completely different character. “I’d like her to be more than this feminist icon, more like real women I know. She needs to go to the movies, have a friend. (..) Lilly became more of a bitch on board in the third season, and that’s kind of a drag.”
Not sure if fans will share the same view as her on detective Rush, but I’m pretty sure the creative minds behind the show would disagree. And not simply because, as she noted, procedural shows on big networks like Cold Case are usually all about the work; while cable shows like The Wire or The Sopranos go more into of the personal lives of the characters mixed altogether.
But as she mentions, that’s not a rule, “it doesn’t have to be on cable“. I mean House is on Fox and is a great mix of personal plots and character development along with medical mysteries! The thing is, it would simply mean turn the show into something completely different that what it is, not just now, but as a whole.
Cold Case is a great show, that does very well at recreating the atmosphere of the time period the crime occurred, making good use of music and songs usually from back then, and perfectly mix the present investigation with flashbacks of that time. People love it for that, and I don’t see its formula being broke down any time.
“There’s a reason Grey’s Anatomy has blown up. We have the potential to be a water-cooler show, too.“, told the beautiful blond actress.
Morris seems to be looking for more recognition, both from the industry, with awards, and from the public. But really, I much prefer a show like The Wire, with great quality despite not having the full recognition is deserves, than Grey’s Anatomy, being a popular hit while not really being on top of the list, quality-wise, I mean the show is nothing but a soap dramedy mess…
