CBS Schedule for 2009

By fred | May 14, 2008

The new schedule for CBS is now official, and they are adding five new series - three dramas and two comedies. The most noticeable addition to the schedule might be the long-rumored creation of another night of comedy, as President Nina Tassler said : “We’ve been looking to expand our comedy lineup, and we now have the depth and development to make the move. Monday is already television’s signature night for comedy and we think we can make the case that CBS is the signature network for comedy overall.

Yeah, right, CBS wants to be the signature network for comedy overall, and they should know their facts : when it comes to comedy, they were able to take the awesome gem that is How I Met Your Mother and bring it down not once but twice by the addition of Britney Spears (who they might even have to come back again!). Seriously, if you have to think about it more than one second when it comes to renewing this show, then you obviously don’t know nothing about comedy, or ones that are actually funny that is. (rant over.)

Full schedule, recap and reactions after the jump!

More

There you go. The Monday lineup remains almost the same, except that the new series Worst Week will benefit from very powerful lead-in Two And A Half Men, while The New Adventures Of Old Christine are moved to the new Wednesday comedy hour, serving as lead-in to the other new CBS comedy, Project Gary. Both shows are about families, a new couple dealing with their upcoming marriage and another one newly divorced and starring to date again. Sounds close to other CBS comedies ? Well, thank God for How I Met Your Mother and The Big Bang Theory then I guess !

Without A Trace is moving to Tuesdays, after new series The Mentalist - some sort of more serious Psych - leaving the Thursdays post-CSI slot open for Eleventh Hour, the new Jerry Bruckheimer show, and it’s not really a cop show ! No, it’s about “a brilliant biophysicist and special science advisor to the government investigating scientific crises and oddities, pursuing those who would abuse and misuse scientific discoveries and breakthroughs for their own gain”.
