CBS doesn’t like How I Met Your Mother, gives new timeslot

How I Met Your Mother is a great show. It really is, it has been for a few years now and it always done well. More importantly for us, TVoholics and fans of the show, it is hilarious ! HIMYM comes with its own style, its own unique way of telling a story, writers of the show greatly mix past, present and future and have created a show that is unlike any other, and that really is hilarious.
I love the show, and so does many others. Sadly, execs at CBS aren’t on that list it seems. And so the show is one of those who never seems to receive the love it deserves, and the latest examples of this are that, as reported previously, CBS renewed lots of new series recently, but How I Met Your Mother isn’t one of them.
They did not renew this great and well established show, yet they renewed freshman The Big Bang Theory.
Now don’t get me wrong, I have nothing against that show, quite the contrary in fact : I do like it. Yes, it may sound really lame - the geeks discovering life when a hot girl comes live next door - and yes it’s filled with clichés, a lot of them. Yet there’s something in there that somehow works, and makes you laugh. It really does. And you can call him Sheldon.
That said, and as happy as I may be to see the show renewed already, it’s nowhere near the quality of How I Met Your Mother, who’s not only coming with no clichés, but has better (not to say real) characters, stronger acting and a writing of much more quality, and more. Bing Bang is funny, but HIMYM is a great show.
And it should have been renewed already. Instead, CBS announced that it will move it ! Yes, as mentioned on our list of when your favorites shows return (and for how long), both comedies will be back on March 17.
But the high-profile 8.00 Monday slot has been handed to The Big Bang Theory, while How I Met Your Mother will now come in half an hour later. Granted, Big Bang performed a little better than HIMYM did and regularly grew on its lead-in (8.9 million vs 8.3 million), so this decision can be understandable; But along with the absence of renewal, this makes it for a clear sign of lack of love from The Eye towards what is simply one of the greatest sitcoms out there, and that is a real shame.
So I can only hope that CBS will announce a renewal for How I Met Your Mother very soon, don’t you want that ?
