Casting Tidbits…

By fred | July 11, 2008

ScrubsA couple of recent casting news I feel like mentioning today, starting with one that involves the comedy Scrubs, relocated to ABC for next season since NBC are morons, and even though I’m pretty sure than chances are you know who it involves and everything that goes with it, i.e. what role that person has been casted for, I don’t think I will say it right now.

I know, I know, it’s been the headlines in about every blog or site about TV lately, in fact if you read such sites, and you happen to be spoiler-phobic, you might just be dying right now. I know some of those places are clearly all about spoilers, it’s a known fact and you shouldn’t expect any less that big spoilers in the titles, but for other places I’m always quite annoyed when I see such things, because I myself hate spoilers - I don’t understand why anyone would be interested in ruining his experience of a show he loves - and therefore I usually try to stay away from them as much as I can.

Anything that reveals something about upcoming episodes I consider spoilers, and I usually try as much as I can not to include any such things too early (before the jump), to let you decide whether or not you feel like being in the known, though I’m sure I regularly fail miserably at that - all apologies.

Now that we’ve put that thing behind us, you’ve probably heard that Courteney Cox, whose show Dirt has recently been canceled, might be coming back on TV very soon, as she’s just been cast for a three-episode arc on Scrubs !

Sounds like a pretty cool idea to me, and I can’t wait to see how this will turn out. As we know Courteney Cox can play the mean bossy character top-notch, and if she’s in to take over Kelso, who knows, she might stay on for a bit longer than just three episodes…

On a side note, there’s more and more talk about Scrubs adding yet another season to the show, now that it’s moved to ABC. Are you guys excited about this ? Do you want it to happen ?

Don’t get me wrong, I love the show, it’s been a great thing for some years now and I am thrilled it will get one more complete season on ABC. But, last season was meant to be the last one, and written that way. Of course things will need adjustments since NBC are fucking retarded, which works for the best since we’ll get one more season on ABC now.

But this one is also planned to be the last one, and many things are being worked that way (JD becoming a father, Eliot and him getting closer again, Kelso leaving Sacred Hearts…) and I’m just not sure that another season wouldn’t be a case of dragging on a show for too long, and in the end ruining it all ? I guess what I’m saying is, I want next season of Scrubs to be great, to be funny, and to be the last one. I don’t want Scrubs to become E.R. or Prison Break…

* And since I promised you two castings news, here’s one about CBS’ Criminal Minds. A very special episode is planned, one that will focus on a guest appearance by our very own George Costanza Jason Alexander ! I have to say, I love the guy, he’s great, huge fan, and I can’t wait to see how he’ll be as some twisted serial killer or whatever. Last season we had Malcolm In The Middle’s Frankie Muniz coming in, and it was one of the best episodes of the show, I do remember not so long ago an appearance by Dawson’s Creek’s James Van Der Beek which I think turned out quite good, though it was quite dark (which for a post-Superbowl splot might have been surprising, but I’m fine with it), so yeah bring it on!

And if you want to find out a bit more about who he’ll play or what will happen during this episode, scheduled for November sweeps, here’s what executive producer Ed Bernero said about it : “It’s a really crazy role. He’s going to come in and turn himself in, but we have no idea who his victims are. So we have to reverse profile.
