Casting News : Smallville, Gossip Girl

By fred | March 20, 2008

Michael Rosenbaum - Kristin Kreuk* Rumors have been floating around that the next season of Smallville might be the last one, and a pretty weird one. No confirmation on the former, but the later has been confirmed : Michael Rosenbaum (Lex Luthor) and Kristin Kreuk (Lana Lang) will not be returning to the show (full time) next season. And so far, nothing’s done for Allison Mack (Chloe Sullivan) either.

But the season might not have to feel that different after all : Mack hasn’t signed a contract so far, but will likely appear for a minimum of 18 episodes next year. As for Lex, it seems that Rosenbaum is likely appear in 11 to 18 episodes. Especially if it’s closer to 18 than 11, it could not be that much of a change. Of course there’s Lana, and Kristin Kreuk recently addressed her fans online stating that she would “return for a undetermined, although small, number of episodes in season 8“.

According to Al Gough, she is likely to be back for the first three episodes of the season, but there’s no word on when, or if, Lana will return after that. Not that he character was any useful or brought anything interesting lately anyways, right ? Still, chances are next season will be the last one…

* You’ve probably heard rumors about Mischa Barton considered to join Gossip Girl but eventually turning the offer down, or never actually being offered anything. Blah blah blah, the truth has much better news : Gorgeous Michelle Trachtenberg is coming to the Upper East Side !

Michelle TrachtenbergThe CW heavily buzzed about (and guilty pleasure of mine) new series Gossip Girl - coming back with new episodes on Monday, April 21 - will see Buffy’s little sister joining in as Georgina Sparks, a character from the books on which the series is based. Trachtenberg signed for a multi-episode arc that is planned to air during the May sweeps.

I think that’s great news, and I have to say Michelle Trachtenberg seems to actually be pretty good when it comes to picking shows to guest-star in. We’ve seen her in House, Six Feet Under or even a pretty good episode of Law & Order: Criminal Intent
