Bones : the other take of what shouldn’t have been…

By fred | December 5, 2007

I don’t actually review it, but I do watch Bones every week (or so), and I actually enjoy it. Back when the show premiered, and I started watching, I wasn’t sure I would really like it, but it felt nice enough for me to keep tuning in week after week. And of course it got better, and it grew on me, and now I really like it.

In the last episode, something happened. Something you know already if you watched it, something it seems many fans had been waiting for. Guess what : I wasn’t one of them.

The idea of Booth and Bones kissing never even crossed my mind before it was mentioned to be honest, because while I like their relationship and the sexual tension that can be between those to, who obviously care about one another, I simply don’t see them together. I don’t think it fits, I don’t think they’re meant to be together, I don’t think it would work, especially for the show.

When Angela and Hodgens got together, you saw it could be match, something that would work for those two. I honestly don’t see it between Bones and Booth, it’s just not there. Even their chemistry and the way they work with each other, is not based on anything even close to the two of them being intimate. I think getting them together would most likely break things and possibly ruin everything.

So I never imagined, even less dreamed or hoped, that a kiss between them would take place. And obviously, they were no where near kissing either. But it was Christmas and I guess writers wanted to please some fans who have to see the two leads of a show getting together just because they’re the two leads of a show, and so they found a way to make it happen, unfortunately I would be tempted to add.

That was not good, if you ask me. First, it felt awfully forced. I’m also wondering if Bones couldn’t have reported the request as sexual harassment and make some money out of something like that, but whatever. The way it happened was too forced to be really enjoyable, and you could also see that in the kiss itself, which was nothing close to being a passionate kiss. I’m even wondering how the gum went from her mouth to his, cause it seemed quite impossible…

So here you have it : it was forced, not passionate, and lead to absolutely nothing as things won’t change between the two after that kiss. And looking at the kiss itself, I doubt it even pleased those who were hoping for such a thing to happen, given how they were likely to be rooting for them to get together, not kiss once like brothers and sisters who really really like each others, then nothing.

So that was my opinion on the whole thing. Now, if you wanted to see them share a passionate kiss and were quite disappointed in what you saw, here’s an alternate version of the scene that didn’t made it for those exact reasons I’m willing to bet : too passionate, too meaningful, not cold enough, you get the idea.

On this take, the gum could have easily swapped from one mouth to the other. Enjoy :
