Amy Poehler to join The Office Spinoff? I hope not…

By fred | July 16, 2008

Amy PoehlerThis is the latest buzz/rumor : Saturday Night Live star Amy Poehler is said to be in negotiations to join the cast of The Office Spinoff. Nothing is known really about this project, probably because they themselves don’t know much, but it is said that the show might be, much like The Office was, built around a name actor. And Amy Poehler might be that one name the show would get built around.

Of course, some might be aware that she’s pregnant, which might get in the way, but after all her SNL-sister Tina Fey was too and the production on the pilot of 30 Rock simply got delayed, and everything worked out fine.

But never mind that, I do not want Amy Poehler to join the show, I pray this doesn’t happen, and here are my reasons :

- First off, though I’m quite sure she can play about anything, I just feel her character would be way too much like Steve Carell’s Michael Scott. You know, self-centered, childish, crazy, a bit stupid at times, …

- But really, my main reason is that, as I’ve discussed before, I pray for this show to be one of the worst failure of all time, or close. As I said, because NBC needs to understand, and that would be - hopefully - a good lesson. So I don’t want anyone I actually would like to see on TV involved, that means I’m not for Poehler to join in, I’m more than opposed to get the amazing Lauren Graham near that project as some keeps to be praying for it seems, because (I feel) The Office Spinoff needs to be a failure.
