All of South Park on line, 100% free and legal !

You all know South Park is a freaking fantastic and hilarious show, and so it won’t surprise you to hear that for the week of November 5-11, it was the show with the largest number of timeshifted viewers of any cable show. It came in first, growing by 25.6% (918 000 viewers) from 3.6 million live to a 4.5 million viewers on live+7.
And for all of you fans of the show, here’s some good news : MTV Networks plans to make every clip from every episode of the animated hit comedy South Park available for free online next year, as part of a strategy to reach consumers everywhere. Ain’t that some good news ?
I’m not sure if all episodes will be downloadable as such, but either way it still a really great move to reinforce the show’s online presence. Since creators Trey Parker and Matt Stone have already worked out a deal to get their share out of Internet, mobile phones and video games made from material from their show. So far it’s already visible through South Park Studios, which only features a small amount of clips for now.
In a little while, the next time you’ll fell like seeing Cartman make some kid eat in own parents in front of Radiohead, or any other moment from the show, from any episode of any season you want, all it’ll take will be a few clicks. And it will be both entirely free and legal.
This decision was made after a similar move was done for The Daily Show with Jon Stewart, and as anyone of us could have predicted this did not hurt the show at all, quite the opposite as it did indeed help boost the TV viewership.
“One does not diminish the other by any stretch of the imagination. That is kind of our hat trick.” declared MTV Networks Chairman and Chief Executive Judy McGrath. Yeah, we have been saying that all along! Good to see finally some of the people in charge to realize this as well.
Proof, if it was needed, that there is a way for writers and studios to work together, so that everyone can benefit from those “new medias”…
