ABC Will Air A Special “Enhanced” Version Of Lost Season Three Finale

The new season of Lost will now premiere very soon. At some point we didn’t know when the show would come back, and then it felt like so far away, and even if - sadly - the writers’ strike is still going on and, as a result, we will get a butchered season, or half a season I should say, the day is near and we can feel the excitement in the air already !

And to keep things up ABC announced that the day before the season four premiere, they will air a rerun of the fantastic finale of last season, Through The Looking Glass. But wait, there’s more! This will not be just another repeat like any other, instead it will be a special “enhanced” version, with on-screen facts, clues and back story.

Now I’m not sure what to expect, but it sounds to me a lot more like a promo move of ABC trying to get new viewers to watch Lost than anything else, as their press release states that “whether you already watched the amazing conclusion of Lost last season or this is your first time viewing it, the special enhanced Lost catches viewers up on the story of the Oceanic 815 survivors in a way you’ve never experienced before.”

It is said that this “enhanced” version will include text on the lower third of the screen, and will “let viewers in” on clues in the show, as well as give back story to catch new viewers up for the new season. Still, I wouldn’t expect to actually learn anything, I even doubt there will be real clues as to what the (first half of) season four has in store for us, but either way this episode was pretty awesome, and watching it does sound like a very good idea to get in the mood for the long awaited return of our favorite show. (Maybe it would be better without on-screen text, though…)

The enhanced Lost Season Three finale airs Wednesday, January 30 at 9.00 on ABC. The Season Four premiere airs Thursday, January 31 at 9.00 on ABC.
