ABC Chops Down Men In Trees
By fred | May 5, 2008
Well, fears of Men In Trees‘ fans are becoming a reality on this Monday morning, as Men In Trees series creator Jenny Bicks confirmed to TV Guide’s Michael Ausiello that the show has ben canceled !
Of course, given the way ABC treated the show recently, it’s not a surprise to find out that (a) the show had a hard time keeping it’s audience around, and (b) the network didn’t really care that much about it.
As Bicks said, “I wish the show had not been moved six times and put onto two long hiatuses. No show could survive that. I am really proud of the work we did on Men In Trees. A huge thank you to our supportive fans.”
But in this bad news not everything is bad, and at least fans can take comfort in knowing that they will get something you don’t always get to see : an actual series finale ! Writers & producers of the show suspected such a demise for their show, so they went ahead and shot an alternate ending, one that could work as an actual series finale, and it will be now put onto the show’s last episode, planned to air sometime this summer, somewhere on ABC schedule (the final batch of episodes is set to begin airing on Wednesday, May 28).
I guess ABC can’t save all shows, they’re already going to save Scrubs (which NBC didn’t renew), they’re said to be interested in getting New Adventures Of Old Christine, as well, should CBS not renew it, you don’t want them to take care of their own shows as well, do you?
In the meantime, fans of MIT can use comments below to express their pain and anger towards ABC, while fans of Boston Legal might wonder what will happen to their favorite show, who’s been jumping around on ABC schedule as well…

Shows: Boston Legal, Men In Trees

Please save men in trees. It’s one of the only original shows left. Please ABC reconsider. Or some other network take it over. Put it on BRAVO or something. I truly believe if more people saw it. It would be a hit.
Well, yeah, that’s for any show : if more people watched them, they’d be hits ;)
As for MIT, I’m sorry to say it looks like it’s really over.
I’m almost surprised I haven’t heard of fans sending whatever it is that could relate to the show to ABC execs. Not that I think it would help, but especially ever since Jericho, as soon as a show gets in trouble people start sending stuff to the networks…
Which, thinking about it, had me wondering why NBC doesn’t start a new show by the name of some product, then cancel it after half a season. It might not get the show back, but if everyone sends said product to NBC, sales will go up and that could be a part of NBC’s deal…
More on that from Ausiello, it’s been confirmed by Men In Tree’s “eternally-optimstic” creator, Jenny Bicks : “It is doubtful the show will find a new home.”
Also, at the Vancouver studio (where the show is shot) the wardrobe and props are being sold at fire sale prices.
I’m sorry but the show is over, for good.
How can we purchase the props and wardrobe? The dire hard fans should at least be privy to that information.
Are you kidding me??? How foolish of ABC! MIT’s first slot on Fridays at ten was perfect for it’s target audience; Instead we get to watch dopey (sorry) compilations of “funniest moments on t.v.” arrgghh. Flippin’ weird if you ask me. Thank God for ION’s Western Weekends. Thanks for allowing me to vent…C
