24’s producer proud of last season!!

By fred | July 27, 2007

As would 24’s very own Jack Bauer, “Damn it!” What the hell is wrong them everyone!?? First it was Fox chairman, who wouldn’t acknowledge that last season of 24 was a disappointment, and now executive producer Howard Gordon goes even further into denial, declaring himself proud of it!!

24Can someone confirm me that last season of the show, Day 6 in the life of Bauer, was the one with a brain-dead President, papa Bauer and sons, so many plots that didn’t make any sense, and episodes in which the man, Jack Bauer, wouldn’t appear more than a few seconds, doing no more than sit in a chair, and wait??

I feel like everyone at Fox did make another season of the show, a good one, or not that bad, but kept it to their selves and now assumes everyone saw that one and not the catastrophic piece of crap that they actually put on the air.

I mean I don’t want to seem obsessed with this, but to say without shame “I was very proud of last season” ?!!

Seriously, even die-hard fans of the show would agree that it was the worst season of the show ever, and to me that doesn’t sound something to be proud of! Gordon added that “it was hurtful to get that kind of criticism“.

Well, yeah it was. But so was it to actually see episode after episode of that piece of shit. And it’s not that people expected so much after the success at the Emmy’s the year before, because as we all know Emmy’s are given away by retarded voters who never watch TV. They just felt bad they hadn’t acknowledge the show and took the opportunity of the inexplicable season 5 great success to fix the problem.

I don’t think it was our strongest season, but I don’t think it warranted the kind of criticism we wound up getting” Maybe it’s because I haven’t read all the hate mail they received, but I tend to disagree. I would suggest him to go watch some episodes of the show, especially after the 5th or 6th ones, and even he will want to write hate mail to himself and other producers/writers!

I understand they felt pressure after the success the previous season had, but while he suggests that “maybe on some level we spent all our coin in the first four episodes and found ourselves exploding a nuclear bomb in Valencia right away“, I think that’s not true.
As I’ve said before, the very first few episodes of the season had quite some new & interesting ideas in them, but also awful ludicrous plotlines as well.

Truth be said, it probably lasted a little longer than that, because yes having the bomb to go off, and Jack to kill Curtis, all those were good new (daring) ideas. The problem is, there was more bad than good, and it didn’t last, as time went by the worst of it grew exponentially until very quickly there were no more trace of anything good.

I think Gordon might still be too involved with the show to be able to look at the previous season without being in the middle of it. Because we all know that for example the whole family drama in last season was an awful thing, to say the least. And when Gordon recognize that they too thought about making Josh’s father not Jack, but his own dad Phillip! Oh yes, they did, they even had started to write a script where this was addressed, but they eventually (thank God!) realized it was really too “twisted” and dropped it.

But at that point, you have to declare the season legally dead. Really, there are not one but plenty, plenty of reasons the show got voted second worst show of the year… And I really hope that they’ve been able to see what they did wrong and why the season sucked so bad, so that next season can be a great one.
