24 to return this November, sort of

As any fans of action-packed hit-drama 24 knows, after the worst season in the history of the season, we went one year without hearing from Jack Bauer. Some say he’s been too ashamed, hiding in bars getting drunk trying to forget about last season, other blame the writers’ strike.
Either way, our good old hero isn’t coming back on Fox before 2009… or is he? As they had announced, Fox will air a two-hour prequel to the seventh season, and you can now mark your calendar : it will be on Sunday, November 23 at 8.00
Shot on location in South Africa, where once day 7 was supposed to start, Jack Bauer battles an international crisis, while here at home the nation prepares for a new president on inauguration day. Taking place just a few months before the new day dawns, the prequel will set the stage and raise the stakes for season Seven.
“We’re excited about the prequel because it explores Jack’s complex emotional state of mind and still has all the signature excitement and suspense that fans have come to expect from 24. Shooting in South Africa affirms everyone’s commitment to making this season especially memorable for our fans,” declared executive producer Howard Gordon.
Yep, because all a show needs to be great is South Africa. Or something.
I’m sure you’re all excited about this. Nothing wrong with that, I can’t wait to see it either. I don’t know about this season being “memorable”, not after reading what could have happened this season, or what nonsense is possible - even probable - to happen on that seventh day. But still, we need to see Jack, damnit!
