What Studio60 could have been

Men I really loved all of the flashback, it was just brilliant. Even Harriett, which is a character I usually don’t quite like, even her wasn’t as annoying as she’s been till now. To tell the truth, the whole Matt & Harriett story is something I’ve never enjoyed on the show, not to use the word “hate even though I might as well.
The two of them never really “clicked, I thought they never had any chemistry, plus simply that we’re-together-despite-the-fact-that-we-broke-up-years-ago thing was pretty bullshit.
Yet their scenes together during the flashback were actually good, I did enjoyed them and I honestly believe it was their best scenes ever together.
That part of the episode was nothing but good. It was greatly written and performed, it just felt good, it was exactly what I – and I’m sure most people who tuned in and watch that show after hearing about it, the new Sorkin’s show – what most people wanted to see.
This, was what Studio60 should have been, and what obviously it could have been. But I’m not sure it means it’s what the show will actually be, I even doubt it, sadly.
Because as much as everything during the flashback really worked well, the flashback in itself, inside the actual show, did not work. Not only because it was incredibly obvious that Tim Batale was in fact his anagram Matt Albie, who didn’t only shared the same letters in their names, or the same clothes, but also the same drug problem…
And the fact that Matt is now letting himself go into a drug problem really doesn’t feel right. It does sound a bit off-character for Matt, and feels quite weird after he’s been helping his best friend dealing with his own drug addiction, and by the way, al that mainly because what, because Harriett broke up with him again, even though they were not together. Oh Please…
Yes, the two of them worked real good during the flashback, but as soon as they were back in the current reality of Studio60, it was all gone.
I’m worried that despite their ability to write a good show, as they proved, writers of Studio60 might not be able to fix it. Because it would require a lot of changes, which they’re probably not ready to do.
