Weekly DVR Cleaning: Reaper, Dirty Sexy Money, My Name Is Earl, Carpoolers

By fred | October 15, 2007

ReaperWith all the series on the air right now, it really doesn’t take much to get really behind on schedule! Not that I’m complaining, of course not, but I’ll admit that it’s not easy to watch everything in time week after week. So yeah, even this DVR cleaning comes in late, and to be honest there’s still a couple of things I haven’t watched, like Criminal Minds amongst others.

Anyhow, here we go with Reaper, Dirty Sexy Money, My Name Is Earl and Carpoolers.

Reaper: All Mine

(S01E03) This show keeps to deliver good episodes one after the other. Once again this episode confirmed that, I think, Sock is the “leader” of the series. Maybe not the team leader when it comes to fighting demons, I mean Sam is the one with the powers, the vessel, and his soul belonging to the Devil, sure, but Sock is not only there for comic relief he’s also the driven force that is required in the whole mechanic so that they can get things done.

I was relieved to see Sam finally not complaining and winning all over the place. Well, not as much. He’s slowly getting stronger and more confident, and that can only be a good thing. I still think that, at least for now, there is a much more strict formula of how things are going down each time, but I was pleased to see this episode try new things instead of staying confined within what’s been done before.

We didn’t start with the discovery of a new vessel, and he boys didn’t really dress up for the fight. Those are good points. I also really liked how Ben broke the vessel by trying to fix it. “It was never going to work anyway!”, well, not as a toaster, no!

A few words on the whole Andi situation ? Obviously she was never going to leave, and of course what she said reinforce Sam into thinking that he should never tell her or let her know the whole “his soul to the Devil / sending escaped monsters to Hell” situation. For now, she needs everything to stay the same. Good, cause that’s the way TV series like it too!

Dirty Sexy Money

Honestly, I was pretty late on this one. But I sat down and watched episodes 2 and 3, as they were waiting for me. But I don’t think I’ll watch the next ones. I really don’t see the appeal to this show, it looks like nothing more but a big soap. Sure, the quality of both writing & acting did improved with time if you compare this to the really lame soaps, but we get it alright.

He swore never to work for “those” people, to never put them ahead of his own family. Yet he does. They’re very very, very rich and they lie all the time, almost. Blah blah blah blah blah blah blah, I really don’t care.

Sure, some characters might be interesting or fun to watch. The father of the family is a real asshole, even to his own kid. The Paris Hilton of the family is a real spoiled bitch as many would love to hate. But in the end that’s not really enough to have me like the show, and I fail to get interested by the whole plot of who is everyone and who the hell killed his dad. Also, I like Peter Krause, but Nick is not enough of a compelling, interesting character. He’s surrounded by a few worth of interest, but fails to be one of his own.
