Weeds: Till We Meet Again

(S04E12) We’re getting pretty close to the end, not that it would mean much for Nancy anyways, because she always gets out of the worst situations ever without even a little scratch. Before this season started, I remembered thinking how I wasn’t sure about the latest changes to be initiated, I wasn’t sure that letting Conrad & co go was a smart move, I wasn’t pleased to forget about Little Boxes, and the move to a new place didn’t really strike me as a way to reinvent the show.
If there’s one thing this season proved is that I was right : this was not the season where the show would reinvent itself, that there wasn’t going to be a fresh start. As a matter of fact, more and more Weeds is forgetting about its comedy roots to take a much darker turn, hoping that drama would save them I guess.
But it does not.
Celia is out of rehab, and that’s almost a shame because there could have been a potential for comedy there. And now we’re back on her other daughter, so she’s got to head to Mexico. Sounds to me like writers don’t known what to do with that character, and might have decided to get ride of her for a while, or maybe even longer, which at this point wouldn’t really be a bad idea anyways.
Let’s all blame Celia : she’s the one, she was into drugs, she was behind the whole thing, not Nancy, that’s why she’s running away to Mexico ! It’s pretty lame yes, but Nancy needs to get out of that mess somehow, doesn’t she?
Because I really don’t think she is suicidal, no, she’s just too freaking stupid to even realized that going on to the police and letting them know about the whole thing and the tunnel was suicidal, or even dangerous ! I don’t think she knew that, she honestly didn’t think for a second that the people behind such an operation, people dealing drugs, guns and girls, people who aren’t afraid to kill, people who have the mayor of Tijuana at their heads, could possibly get back to her.
I mean really, after such an operation you do not go and meet with the DEA agent who run the operation in a public park like that! You talked shit before hand, or you wait to be officially under interrogation to deal with things, but anyone snapping a picture at that time or following her was signing her death certificate, and there would have been people following her after the raid.
But really, who cares that she got the three words out of his mouth, sort of, right after she betrayed Esteban ? Who cares about what will happen next to stupid Nancy ? Does anyone do ? Because I really don’t, it’s always the same crap, and it’s boring more than anything else.
Just like Shane turning into you regular stupid teenager, or Doug. Once upon a time, Doug was a great and funny character, but then came Maria. It was a stupid mess to get her here, and now that she is, Doug is simply a douchebag. An extremely predictable and unfunny douchebag.
It took his a while, but agent Shlatter named names, and now Cesar will probably want to eliminate Nancy. But of course, he won’t, things will work out okay one way or another for her, but this show is nothing like what Weeds used to be, and I don’t think I’ll bother with another season… another episode maybe.
