Weeds: Excellent Treasures

(S04E06) Aww.. Weeds. This is the little show that was to be completely different this season, because they were re-inventing it, or, at least, starting fresh as everyone was moving away for the “little boxes” of Agrestic into a brand new place, with new people, new problems, and brand new weed too. That was the plan, but more and more I feel like this is just like last season all over again.
And I don’t only mean this Nancy didn’t evolve or learn anything, again, I don’t only mean she keeps doing the exact same stupid mistakes, again, now I also mean that just like last season, after a few episodes that were possibly good and showed potential for the show to grow into something more, it just falls back onto itself and pull the same crap once again, being boring and really not so good, again.
See, last season at some point it felt like Nancy was way over her head with her new deal and everything that happened, and while she doesn’t seem to ever actually smoke weed, or any other drug, she still somehow fall into all the pitfalls of drugs, she had become addicted, did things she shouldn’t have and didn’t really wanted to, she couldn’t see a way out no more, she was only trying to survive and get to her next “fix”.
It could have been good, but it wasn’t. This season, it’s all the same. By the end of last week’s episode we knew Nancy would of course go into that tunnel even though she shouldn’t cause that’s a guaranteed way to get in trouble, and also there was a pretty high chance of getting killed. But she’s a moron, the same moron she was when she started, so she keeps doing the same stupid mistakes, getting in trouble might be her drug.
And of course we knew she would ask questions she’s not supposed to ask, to people she really shouldn’t be asking those - or any - questions, or course she’d do that, she always does. Because in Nancy’s life, it always go that way : she does stupid shit, she asks too much questions, she gets in big trouble, and then somehow people die on their own, fire are started, everything gets resolved on its own and she walks out of it unharmed and completely clean. Always.
So why would she learn or try not to do the same mistakes ? It’ll work out nicely, it always does. Last week she said she wanted to be more present, at home, for her kids, but of course that’s not gonna happen. She might not actually do drugs, but the more she gets involved in that whole business the more that’s all her life is about, pushing away everything else - friends, family, everything.
So now she’s probably gonna get involved somehow with the new boss, and we’ll all forgot about that Guillermo guy. Just like we do about Silas’ drug “business” because we’re switching to his love life now instead.
Nancy will get involved with the power that be, which will come in handy when those retards (Andy and Doug that would be) will get in trouble. Because wanting to become “coyote” and get illegal immigrants into the country just like that has to be one of the stupidest thing ever. Well, or not, I mean it’s not like they had no idea whatsoever of how that whole traffic works, like they didn’t know anybody around here, had no contact or anything, no resources either, it’s not like their brains were usually high on weed, it’s not like this was a risky illegal activity where any new competition in town is likely to get killed by the ones in place, right?
But don’t worry, Nancy will soon be sleeping with the mayor of Tijuana, who also happens to the the head of the local mafia, so it’ll all work out fine, because it always does. I’m sorry but I didn’t like this episode, what happened, the way it did, none of it. At this point I’m rooting for a spin-off about Andy and Doug trying to come up with something to do and always failing, because those two are funny and there’s some great comedy to be made with them, but as far as Weeds go, I don’t really feel it…

i’m sorry dude, i respect your opinion and everything but this is really, really poorly written.
you can do better.
