The Truth and Nothing but the Truth

(S04E04) As you may know I’ve had some doubts, or mixed feelings, about the new season of The 4400. And here we are now, one more episode later, and things aren’t really much better.
Again, I’m not sure if this is me, and how I look at the show, or the show itself, but it really doesn’t feel so good, to me.
I can really be influenced by the new shows, and amazing episodes we’ve had (Lost!), but…
For instance, one little thing maybe but it really bugged me when watching the episode. End of the first scene, at the bar, not only did April replied, to her boyfriend, “no you can’t [lie to me], but she then added “no one can.
See that, as little as it may be, kinda pissed me off a bit. Maybe I’m exaggerating things because of the previous episode, but it felt to me as if writers thought, we have to really make things clear, read have someone say it out loud, or else viewers are too freaking dumb and they’ll never get it.
Seriously? Why would they do that? Everyone knew what her ability was as soon as she started asking questions, and was told the whole truth.
And for people not so subtle, that added special angle shot & background sound effect to make sure you knew something was up. So why would you have her, after all that, say I out loud.
That felt like deja-vu to me. And a very bad one.
“See, I am Kyle’s ability
Anyhow, this whole storyline wasn’t bad, even turned out better than I first expected. Once things got started, I thought April would simply got killed, or disappear, so that it would give a new (fake) reason for Diana to stay in Seattle.
Hopefully they did not go that way, and instead made her realize that she actually wanted to stay, as she really felt like she belonged here.
Besides, when you know the world isn’t going to change soon, but it already doing so, when more and more people are getting new abilities, and both sides are growing and getting for what seems to be the inevitable war, you might want to be in the middle of it, an active part of whatever is coming, not just watch it in the news.
