The Sarah Silverman Program: Ah, Men

By fred | November 1, 2007

The Sarah Silverman Program(S02E05) Okay, so after I watched the last episode of the epic trilogy of South Park, I sat down for a new episode of The Sarah Silverman Program. And I was expecting some pretty funny shit, as usual with the show.

A show that as I told last week, seems to be trying new things this season. Not that is ever was confined in a strict formula, but there was a clear pattern each week. But not last week, it was still hilarious, but it was also different. And this week ?

This week kept pulling the “different” card, as once again while still true to her self-involved self, Sarah didn’t into a huge thing that would become nation-wise and have her appear on TV or anything, again they tried something else. Only this time, it didn’t work.

I felt like they basically tried to do the usual sitcom plot and their classic relationship issue, but starring Sarah Silverman. But that did not work, because that’s not the reason we’re tuning in for this show, we don’t want to same crap other sitcoms do, we don’t want that same comedy all others do, we want The Sarah Silverman Program, and her very own sense of humor.

I don’t think going to one of her stand-up show is like going to any other comedian, she has her own style, and that is what attracted us to this show. But a classic boring story about two ex-lovers going back together and whatnot, that’s just not what I wanted to see, even if it was between Sarah and God.

I’m not saying it was plain bad, but it really wasn’t that funny, I’m not even sure I laughed during the whole show, and it really wasn’t the kind of episode, and story, that I expect or want to see on the show.

So yeah, I didn’t like this episode. Hopefully it’ll be better next time. But I can’t leave without one quote, one quote that came during the last minute of the show, and that I actually loved. Remember when I said I didn’t laugh during the whole episode ? Lie! I laughed out loud, and for quite some time, when I heard her say this :

But [God] also created some failures like, the genocide in Darfur or, the last season of 24!
