The Kill Point: No Meringue

By fred | August 7, 2007

The Kill Point(S01E03) After watching the two-episodes premiere of this new mini-series, it was pretty obvious that, despite some flaws, The Kill Point was a very promising show I was really enjoying.

Well, I just watched the third episode, and I’m still as enthusiastic as I was. It is still a great show. Doesn’t mean it is perfect or that I’m pleased with everything that happens, but overall the show still holds it pretty strong and delivers a good hour of television.

As it was highly predictable, this episode slowed down its flow of actions. But now that they’re stuck in the bank trying to figure out how to escape, with cops all over trying to figure out how to catch them, the time for the gunshots and rushing into actions is over, for now at least.

One thing the show is great at is showing how things evolve into such situations. People get scared and act stupid, tend to become paranoid, even the bad guys can loose it. They’re not plain evil monster and they want to avoid killing anyone if they can, but sometimes they just switch back to military mode and could go trigger-happy if they’re not watched over, too.

The whole plot about kid getting friendly with Mr Wolf and helping him, then Wolf trying to comfort him and get him a cake was really not new, but it was ok. I could go with it, I guess.
Let’s say it didn’t bother me as much as the rest…

What I didn’t like so much was the whole FBI part. While I realize that it made sense to illustrate that the big rich influent guy was able to actually have his money heard, we already had the whole “bad cop takes over good cop only to screw up” plot in the first episodes, so having to go through it one more time was a pain.

The Kill PointBesides, it wasn’t even remotely well done. The FBI chick screwed up real bad and it couldn’t have gone otherwise. She didn’t even tried to listen, she only wanted the girl back. There was no listening on her part, no negotiation of any kind, nothing but her “gimme the girl, now” cold attitude.

Obviously this couldn’t go anywhere. And seeing as they have always a few scenes or shots that I think are purely made to remind you you’re watching a show on SpikeTV, I’m also wondering if the fact she was a woman wasn’t because only one of them could be that stupid. So she could get “humiliated” by Wolf throwing at her face how incompetent she is and all. Don’t get me wrong though, I loved the phone calls, it was funny.
Now move away girl, and let real men take care of things…
