Studio60 can’t be over soon enough!

By fred | June 20, 2007

(S01E20) Ok so you know what? When I first read about Studio60, the latest Sorkin’s show, a new show about the behind-the-scenes, the making of a live comedy TV show “a la” SNL, I was pretty excited. And not just because I usually like Sorkin’s shows.

Then I saw a first couple of episodes, and despite it not being yet as good as it could be, and I was sure it would be, I really liked it? It had a lot of potential, and honestly, it was pretty damn good. Not necessary funny, but the show was never intended to be a sitcom, or even a comedy.
“Get over it, and enjoy it for what it is!” is how i felt by then.

There were many critics about the show, and I had my lists of complaints and such, but still it had good writing, good acting, Studio60 was a solid show with much promise. And I supported it all the way, including when they insisted to do the wrong things, but now, I’m over it.

Studio60 sucks.

Fans, just accept it, it is now a fact. And the last episode I saw was a bug confirmation of this. Even when they did that stupid silly shitty story where they got stuck on the roof, I was still behind the show. But it seems Sorkin and all the writers have now gave up, they’re not trying anymore.

When I heard the news that the show was taken off the air, but production would keep going on and the remaining episodes will be airing later on (which is now now), I was pissed, of course, but at least we would get the end of the season. And writers would end it.

And then I started having hopes again, that they would use this opportunity to write really good shows, to please the fans, to show how great the show really was, could have been if only they had given it a real chance.

But they didn’t. Oh boy they really didn’t, far from it.

The last episodes have a big part of their story that is taking place into an hospital. It’s about a pregnant woman, and a couple getting married as she’s heading to give birth, and then there’s medical complications, meanwhile the not-official-father is trying to see the baby. But can’t, no matter what.

That could be a good story, for ER. That could be something I’d enjoy watching when I tune in for my latest dose of medical drama, but not when I watch Studio60, a show – should I remind you – about the behind the scenes of the making of a live comedy TV show.
