Scrubs: My Comedy Show
By fred | February 11, 2009
(S08E10) In the previous episode we’ve seen what happens when, for some unknown reason, JD and Eliot have to be separated. It might not be the first time they’re together, but even after all those years their love for each other never failed them, it is now stronger than ever and makes it almost physically impossible for them to deny it, hide it, or be separated for too long.
But with JD nowhere to be seen during the last episode, they had to be separated. Now there was another couple that had to be separated and didn’t even get to spend the whole time on the phone, and I am of course talking about JD, cheating on Eliot with Turk. Unless it’s the other way around.
Either way, those two have always been more than just close or best friends, it’s a very strong and powerful bromance we have here, one officially recognized as such (for the first time ever?). Now I think it was obvious to anyone how close those two are, I’m sure Dr Cox – MIA this time – could go on for hours aligning one joke after the other on their relationship, and how JD is obviously the girl.
But when Sunny Day, yep that is her name, and given her personality I don’t think there could be any better team than her and our very “unhappy” Denise, when Sunny and Denise failed to prepare their sketch, the only thing they could do, as JD and Turk, was simply to kiss. It was just awesome, especially since at the same time the real JD and Turk where pretty much kissing as well. Side note: Seeing the two interns kissing and everyone looking at the real JD and Turk sharing a big hug was funny. I’m still unsure however how it is that absolutely everyone, all the guys in the room, just turned back and looked away from the two girls kissing, even the Todd!!
Anyways, the comedy show was filled with great bits about everyone, we even got to see Laverne again (who was “back” but not really last season, though I guess that never went anywhere) and of course got to see Jimmy The Overly Orderly intern who is actually pretty good, his Dane Cook for instance – “Why do people find me funny?” – was pretty genius.
Meanwhile Eliot managed to get Denise to leave the hospital and go drink with the other interns, though I sure hope she doesn’t change anytime soon. Especially when teamed with Sunny, there’s for some great moments to come there.
People aren’t all nice, though. Carla might be the one who cares, but she’s also really good at all things evil. Case in point, after the Janitor saw her get a long hair from her chest, she simply decided to pretend it never happened. And she’s so good, and with a little help of Kelso, who always liked her, that Janitor eventually started to believe he might just be crazy (no, you think?)
This was also a way for the writers to try to “apologize” I guess for some of the worst bits that came during past seasons, such as when Janitor putting JD up to the flagpole “for real” (as in not in any kind of fantasy). Poor guy now isn’t even sure he ever was in The Fugitive, which means that maybe he just thought he looked like Neil Flynn and then started to think it was him, but it was really Flynn. They do look alike though, don’t they?
Lots of great lines in this episode, my favorite probably being when the Janitor got proof he was crazy.
Kelso: My muffin thinks you’re crazy and she wants you to go.
Janitor: You tell your muffin that I think she is crazy. Maybe she should go.
Oh that’s right, we were once talking about the bromance! Just how awesome was it when they couldn’t take it anymore, and JD and Turk hugged in front of everyone with Guy Love playing in the back ??
Yep, one thing for sure is that this final season of Scrubs is one of the best ones, and definitely a return of the show to its greatest shape. Sadly though, we won’t get any more new episodes until the show moved to Wednesdays, on March 18.
While we wait : what’s everybody thinking of this season so far ? Comment away…
