Prison Break: VS

By fred | April 25, 2009

Prison Break(S04E18) My problem with this show, I think, is that somewhere along the lines I just lost interest. I found myself watching this episode, and not really caring about what happened anymore. I mean, if it wasn’t for Mahone, who might be the only one left standing who still thinks and kicks ass, although I have to say I can’t really see how in Hell he can be working with Linc & co for the General — I mean, Mahone should know not to trust the Company, because as soon as they got all they wanted from you, you’re dead.

But to see Linc and Michael now on opposite sides, and their mother the new big villain for no other purposes than being adding family drama to the table, and the Company who still looks like this big opaque thing that does God knows what, as that seem to be changing over time, just like Scylla isn’t a Company black book like it first appeared to be….

I don’t know, I just don’t care all that much nowadays. I was extremely disappointed to see that the only reason Linc didn’t get shot was luck, and a well placed tree. I mean, had the order came a second sooner, or Linc not walked that way at that exact instant, he’d be dead now. And if Michael came up with a pretty good plan to get to “VS” – even though it failed in the end – the guy just annoys me now, and I don’t think I’m alone.

I’ll admit that I didn’t see the pregnancy coming, and it usually is a bad sign of things to come (happy couple, baby on the way, next thing you know the lovely future mommy is lying dead on the floor… again), and I am not sure exactly when she and Michael got to spend some quality time together between her kidnapping, her being all post-tortured traumatized, and Michael’s sickness/surgery, but whatever.

Maybe Sara was just having the usual reaction to the news, but I’m thinking there’s a reason she hasn’t told Michael yet : he could tell her it’s great news, but that he still needs to bring down the company first. Not that he doesn’t want a kid, or take care of his lovely pregnant doctor, but certain things come first in life, and for Michael at this point, family isn’t really looking like it makes the top of the list anymore. Screw his mother, screw his brother, and probably screw his own child : the Company comes first.

It might also come out of frustration, but I feel like the show used to move at a different pace, that each episode would move the plot forward more. Lately not a lot happen with each episode, so T-Bag ranting about elephants was pretty funny, Mahone figuring things out in the embassy and later on shooting the bad guys from a distance and saving Michael & Sara was pretty cool (thank God that guy is still around, otherwise what a nightmare this would be…), but it’s not enough.

At this point I’m not sure where they’re going with the latest development, and I don’t really care about T-Bag’s latest double-crossing, or finding out the real motives (if there are any) behind Christina’s action, if she’s not just evil to be evil, or why she seem not to care about her sons and be willing to kill them, or why, if what she got her hands on is this revolutionary technology years ahead of everybody else, why would she sell it to some foreign country instead of taking care of business herself. If the Company could have their own people as President of the USA, certainly they don’t need India to help them out, do they?

What did everybody else think?
