Prison Break: Under And Out
By fred | February 5, 2008
(S03E11) Of course after last episode I said I was done with this crap, yet there’s only three (now two) more episodes so I kinda feel like I might as well watch them all and see how it “ends”, even though I’m sure it’ll be a mess. It won’t be a surprise and it won’t be a change either, because this whole season so far has been nothing but a mess, where nothing happens and nothing gets done, and when it’s not completely ridiculous it’s just pathetic.
Did I had any hope that this episode would be any different, or that anything would happen there ? Hell no! If you asked me, I would have said that Michael and his friends wouldn’t get out of Sona before the end of episode 13, the last completed episode. That was my thoughts on how things could go down, what did actually took place ?
Well, not much. Last episode if I remember correctly I said it could have been summed up by saying “Sammy died”. This week, it gets even, better : “…uh, nothing?”
That’s right, pretty much nothing happened during this filler hour of crap. They were going to break out of Sona very soon, as soon as the next day. Not that it was anything new, though. Then it started to rain, so they had to break out tonight, and even though Michael said that this was an impossible task turns out he can pull it off in no time with pretty much no preparation needed.
And by the end of the episode, they’re initiating the escape. I guess it should be exciting, only it’s not. Been there, done that. Not in Fox River but right here in Sona, too. And honestly : I couldn’t care less about any of the character. So what if LJ or Lincoln’s new girl die, so what if Bellick, T.Bag or Lechero die, are we really supposed to care about any of this ??
And the worst part of this whole mess is that it really seems to me that writers have but no idea of where this whole thing is heading to !! They don’t know what’s going to happen next, hence why they keep trying to delay the actual escape as much as possible, even though it has to happen this season. Because they don’t know what will happen next, they have no idea whatsoever of what to do with any of the character once they’re out.
I mean, I don’t want to see Mahone, Bellick T-Bag or Lechero going on their own way once they’re out, I really don’t care. We already had to go through this for season two, but it was different, we felt compelled to those people and we wanted to see where this thing was heading. Not this time, this time they could all die for all I care, it wouldn’t matter.
Plus there’s the whole Whistler thing. I’m not sure they even know what his deal is. Why is he so important to The Company, who’s pulling the strings here I shall remind you, what are those stupid coordinates, and more importantly is it really about that crap ?? I would think not, but then again they keep changing their minds so who knows what they’ll decide after all. Either way, it won’t make no sense.
Because if Whistler is, as it was hinted a while back, a mastermind orchestrating his own escape and using the brothers and Gretchen. If she is working for him, whether she fully knows/realizes it or not, and this whole coordinates but was only an excuse, then you’d have to wonder still why he’s acting the way that he is, and why he got Gretchen to be such a retard, and why they had to use such an unsafe plan.
But if he really is a victim, a simple fisherman, then what the fuck is going on here ? Since when can a fisherman pressure the Company to have them to break him out, only to get some stupid numbers ? They can go after the President of the USA, but a fisherman is untouchable ? Really !?
And why did they never try to use special agents with guns and helicopters to begin with ? They were willing to do it at one point, and if they hadn’t put Michael in the mix it would probably have worked out ? So why didn’t they do that as soon as Whistler got in then ?
Of course Gretchen found the bomb, and of course somehow there’s a warrant against Sucre’s new identity (Gretchen’s gift?), but with his stupid smile on his face to remind everyone he was the one hijacking the cars, I think he deserves to be sent to Sona after everyone else escaped. Cause next week it’s the escape, for real, it seems. I’m sure someone will die on the way, I just hope it’s not that new kid Michael finally got in, though we don’t know why. I’m sure he could feel bad if Mahone was to die, and at least they’d really kill someone.
And who knows, maybe we’ll find out that Whistler & Sophia have been orchestrating the whole thing from the start, they’ll take the money that mysterious suitcase and leave. Who cares ? This season has had nothing good to offer, it was exactly what I did not want to see : a rehash of the first season, only without any of the things that made season one work. I can’t wait for it to be over, so we can forget about it once and for all.
