Prison Break: Safe And Sound

By fred | September 23, 2008

Prison Break(S04E05) At this point, this episode wasn’t much of anything else than your typical weekly hour of Prison Break. Which simply means that it always a little bit of the same, you know, there’s six cards out there, they need to copy each of every one of them, so they go after one new card every week. And so the stories goes…

I don’t really care about the cards, or Syla, or The Company, or nothing of what’s going on or at stakes here. And yet, I enjoyed this episode. I don’t know if it was having just seen the really bad (first hour of the) season premiere of Heroes or what, but despite all its flaws and everything, I felt this episode was pretty fun actually. You know, just seeing the A-Team doing his things and working their magic, it’s not like everything made sense, but it was fun.

No, making sense it still not part of this show, and after attending some police event dressed as cops last week, now Micheal and his brother simply decided to sneak into a federal building to copy a secret card hidden in a highly-secure vault. Because, you know, there was nothing on TV and they like challenges.

Although it didn’t even seem like one, that’s the beauty of Prison Break ! After breaking out of every prison they were sent to, breaking in anything seems like a piece of cake. See here, 10 minutes to come up with a plan, a little help from a friend, and it’s a done deal! By the way, don’t think they take that so lightly, they do know what’s at stake here and that why, even though it was completely unnecessary because they would be either hiding in the back of the truck, in the elevator, in the ceiling or alone on some office, Michael and Linc sill “suited up”. That’s how professional those guys are.

That whole plot wasn’t really that good, we all knew everything would work out fine and there’s really a lack of pressure I feel. I mean, of course Michael was gonna have enough time to copy the entire card, even though the process seemed quite slower than it used to be in the past – I guess they were too close or something. Because there was no way they didn’t get it, and even less probable was that they’d get caught.

Which is why, since they needed more time, the guy on the other hand of the safe, after having done everything to open it up, code entered an finger pressed, he took the time to turn around for one more remark about trust or whatever before actually opening the door. As a courtesy to Michael and his buddies, or something. Also, some more nose bleeding, which apparently are not a new mystery sickness but an old one Michael already experienced a few years back.

Which leads us to, why is he “lying” to Sara ? I mean, she opened up and told him she went to a bar, but not drank anything. She did because she loves him, and she doesn’t want to lie to him, ever, or even hide anything from him. And after she’s saying that, he’s just standing there like he’s got nothing to say to the pretty former doctor. Don’t come in complaining later on, when she finds out on her own and get pissed at you, Mikey!

I was worried at first that Sara would mention her encounter with Wyatt, but maybe not actually exchange information with Mahone, or that he’s keep his own mission secret for some reason. Thank God that wasn’t the case, and for some reason when she was talking about it and Mahone just showed up from nowhere with the picture, “is this the guy?” that just did it for me. I don’t know, but I just thought this was great, this guy rocked, and I really hope he gets to kill that son of a bitch.

In other stories was T-Bag, and I really don’t care about this whole thing. It sounds very stupid to me, I don’t know where this is going but I’m just not sure I care, like I couldn’t care less about Gretchen, whose ability to kill a man like that and simply escape was even less believable than, well, about anything else this show ever done.

So T-Bag is not doing any work, he’s pulling some sort of George Costanza move on GATE – Greatness Achieved Through Excellence, the company that sells, what exactly? motivational posters? inspiring words? air? – and the more it does down, the more that stupid bird book turns into a cheap joke. I mean, this was so important back in Sona, this is thought to be the key of the whole operation to come, and what’s written in it ? What did Whistler wrote in there as a hint for what had to be done ? “Scyla” ! Are you kidding me?? Was that in case he wakes up one morning, and wonders what the fuck he’s doing here ? Looks in the book, “Scyla”, and then goes “oh yeah, right, that whole thing! Thank God I wrote that down or I was out partying one more night, that totally slipped my mind!”

I wonder it it says somewhere on another page shit like “take down The Company” or something, that would be fun. Plus, it’s definitely something he’d have wanted to do. Also, “remember to eat every once in a while”, “if your stomach hurts, go take a shit”, and of course “you’re a good guy”, always good for motivation.

The evil plan of The Company apparently involves destroying the economy of Laos. Why? Because they can. More seriously, who cares? I don’t, and I don’t see why Michael even should. Just get the six cards, break in yet another building, have Mahone kill him son’s murderer, and then go on a boat trip with Sara. Oh yeah, I can’t wait to see Mahone killing Wyatt, that should be fun, plus it’s the only plot I actually care about; also I’d love to go on a trip with Sara, but that’s got nothing to do with anything…
