Prison Break: Quiet Riot

(S04E11) We’re getting close. Real close. Alright, so sure, it’s been quite a while now that we’ve been getting closer and closer to this mysterious “box” that they call Scylla, and we still have no clue of what it really is, and we’re still just close, maybe closer, not not quite there yet, but don’t worry this is going to change, I mean it will have to, at some point, it’s required by law.
What’s really getting scary, is Scylla. Not in itself, I’m sure in itself it’s just a big box that wouldn’t harm no one, but the big revelation of what it is, exactly, what the Hell is that highly secured thing that needs six cards – one of which the A-Team is still missing by the way – to be accessed. We’ve had all this build up about this mysterious Scylla the whole season, it probably started last season already in fact, and I’m worried that once we’ll find out what it is, it might be quite laughable.
But hey, before we get to that we have to actually get a hold of Scylla, don’t we? So this episode was pretty funny, in its own way and if you’re willing to watch the show with a tremendous suspension of disbelief that just makes you not take anything seriously — which is required to watch this show at this point. I mean, at some point Sucre was all about memories, and how “last time I drilled a hole in a wall, was with an egg beater back in Fox River with Michael“… Ah yeah, remember when we thought that pushed the bounds of reality too far ? Happy times.
So what the Hell happened in this episode ? Well, for one the hot secretary who’s in fact working for the FBI decided that since we knew about it, she could start showing obvious, clear, unavoidable signs that she was actually spying on T-Bag, and cover up. I’ll spare you the “T-Bag say she’s a cop because she won’t show her boobs” part as it was all totally ludicrous.
When she got an address of where T-Bag, Gretchen and other bad guys could meet, she quickly told Self. And instead of going there with a few trained agents as he should have, even without telling them about The Company and shit, he showed up by himself with pretty face, because she’s got no field experience and they’re just out to get a bunch on trained armed dangerous killers, so yeah, perfect plan. Ah, if only Self had thought of getting a GPS tracking bracelet for T-Bag we wouldn’t be there…
Anyways, either that her Gretchen dressing up for nothing but telling us her daughter’s father is that creepy old General, it was all pretty stupid. So let’s move on to what this episode was really all about : getting to Scylla. We’ve talked about it long enough, time to get to it.
And please, don’t try to make sense out of what’s happening, because there really isn’t any. Michael played MacGyver and came up with a way to defeat all the security measures, but that’s only because you need not to see things like how there’s no way that whole thing of using umbrellas to catch the bits of the wall would ever be possible (though I loved how they show a shot of it were it was falling right in the middle of the umbrellas, for some magical reason…), or that the wall fall apart without making enough noise to be caught be the detector, especially at first, or that of course things got shaky up there for a bit, and despite all the noise that made as Sucre caught the Nitrogen at the last minute, the noise detector didn’t catch anything, just like of course everything hold on while Linc went up there to help Sucre, and both of them working hard like that wasn’t enough to trigger the heat detector, and thank God there was no motion detection, or no camera.
We’ll skip over Michael’s obligatory fainting moment up there, we all knew it would happen so it was pointless, I’ll just say how I loved the part Sara plays in this thing : she’s got to sit in the sun with a gun in her bag. Tough stuff. Why didn’t they actually include her in the actual action for once, as she might have been the logical choice to go walk on that thing since, well, she’s lighter than everyone else. Oh yeah, right, who cares, you can walk at two or three easy on that little thing, which was also incredibly stable somehow.
Anyways, despite that whole thing, looking at this without caring for anything like making sense or being logical, it was pretty fun. A little slow on the side as we all knew they’d be fine and Michael would have its moment, but the whole thing without a work being spoken was pretty cool nonetheless. Also, I’m sure Michael not only knew about that last sensor but triggered it on purpose, I mean he’s Michael Scofield for Christ sake!
It was cool to finally see Michael get to Scylla, even though as far as his no-stress rule go I’m not really sure Sara would approve, now obviously we’re all pretty excited and curious to see what comes next : How do they get out of here once the General is in ? What is Sara waiting for ? Anyone cares for Self and the girl ? What happens once they got Scylla, or are they not gonna get it, somehow ? Any ideas ?
