Prison Break: Boxed In

By fred | January 15, 2008

Prison Break(S03E09) Yes, I know, I know, I said I wouldn’t watch it. Guess what, I’m a TVoholic, I couldn’t help myself. Plus, I needed to do something while waiting for Terminator to come on, so yes, I admit, I did watch the return of Prison Break !

I still remember how I felt after that two-hours “special” and how I “insulted” the show after wards, it really was bad. In fact, I did not review the episode after that, the last one before it went on a break, because I really couldn’t stand the show no more. Truth be told, I did eventually watch episode 8, and it was a piece of crap as well, so that’s for it.

But then, today, I watched the return of Michael and all the others again. How did it turn out ?

There was some good stuff, and quite obviously there was some bad stuff as well. But overall, I’m a bit ashamed to say that it worked on me, I kinda liked it and I want to see what will happens next; God Damnit, I’m weak! Ok so, I’ll start off with the bad, to prove I was right not to want to watch it get it out of the way.

As I’ve said in previous reviews of this show or others, one thing that, as a viewer, I really hate when watching a show, is when they think I’m a moron, and feel the need to explain everything little obvious details, thinking that somehow if they don’t spell it out for me, I’ll never understand anything. But why isn’t he moving anymore ? I know he got shot at and there’s blood all around, but why doesn’t it get up ? Isn’t he pissed he got shot at ? What’s that ? Dead ? Oooooo… I see… Thanks for explaining it to me!

And when Sucre & Lincoln had their “fight” in the hotel, before they even started to talk to one another it was freaking obvious that this was staged, that they were setting up whoever was watching over them to get Gretchen to come see him. Really, it was so obvious I even wonder how the guy watching managed not to get it. But what I really can’t stand is, later on, when Sucre & Lincoln met back.

Why have him not come forward right away, get in and say “Ok, I just met her – And ? – She offered me 50 grand to watch over you…” That, would be normal behavior. Because they both know this was their plan, so why would they act any other way. And, again, it was so freaking obvious that we all know it was their plan as well, we did so from the very start, playing it like it’s a mystery, like we don’t know, putting the background music up and pretending it’s some kind of big revelation only means one thing : they think we’re fucking retarded morons !

Well fuck you ! There, I feel better. By the way, I don’t give a crap about Sucre and whatever he may or may not be doing. He’d get killed by that guy he’s been sneaking things inside Sona for, I wouldn’t care less.

But talking of highly obvious things that they felt the need to explain : what about Bellick’s fight ?? Really, we all got it, he cheated. To have T-Bag to come to him, ask him those questions he asked him, pick up and smell the sheet pieces or whatever he used, and do exactly what he did, give him that look and walk away, that was all that was necessary. Nothing more. To have the flashback to spell everything out for us, like we’re morons who still haven’t figured what just happened there, is just insulting us once again…

And to keep on the same trend : just like with Sucre, I don’t give a fuck about Bellick. Really, we don’t care. This isn’t season one, you messed things up, and now we simply don’t care about many of the characters in Sona. Like Mahone.

Are we really supposed to give a shit abut that guy ? Really ? He came back in Sona this week. He came back, he could have stayed away, he lives, he dies, I don’t care whatsoever, and I don’t want to be bothered by those filler crap no more. Obviously that all testimony thing was nothing but a huge filler, and we’ve had it, have the man to die already, we don’t care, he is already dead, to us anyway.

I’ve seen a couple of Dominic Purcell interviews. Each time they’re talking about a fourth season. I thought that the creator of the show was clear and decided to end it at the end of this season. What’s up with that?

Well, Phil, from the start they’ve been saying that they felt this season was so great and they could keep things running for two or three more seasons…

Best season yet” they called it, what a joke!

Actually, they started saying so even before the season premiered. But now that we’re in, now that viewers have seen the mess the show has become, and now that Fox saw the numbers falling down each week a little more, I’m not even sure that if the strike was to not be resolved soon enough, writers would be given a chance, next year, to add any more episodes to the ones completed to this day…

IOT, the show was thought with two seasons in mind, a third one was added because Fox execs are morons, but that’ll be it. I doubt there will be a fourth season, and that’s for the better.
