Life: Mirror Ball

(S02E14) With this show, I think we have to accept that things changed. They did not evolve, but changed, radically went from one thing to another without any reasons and explanations ever being given about it, and now the show is different. It is not, and probably won’t ever be what it used to be back in its first season.
It’s just the way it is, we have to accept that Tidwell is here to stay, that he and Dani are not just a one-time thing but might grow into an actual long-lasting relationship, which in itself means Dani isn’t who she used to be, it’s not just the way she wears her hair.
But if you can accept that and see past it, which isn’t that hard to do now because we’ve had about 13 episodes prior this one to get used to it whether we like it or not, and also because things have improved (I mean I don’t like Tidwell all that much, but at least he’s not really the buffoon he used to be…) then you can have a good time enjoying this show, because it’s not completely different either, and it can still be really good, as was this episode.
This episode had plenty of great stuff going for it, starting by the opening scene. Did you see that? Charlie and “Doc” in their car, talking about random stuff, like nicknames. It’s silly maybe, but they used to do that all the time last season, talk in their car (or over a coffee for her, some exotic fruit for him) about the case or about random stuff, and Charlie would be Charlie with his Zen thoughts, and Dani would eventually be annoyed or wish he would shut up… aw, good times.
And this episode opened exactly like that, with nothing but that, and even better was how they did it again, later on during the episode Charlie and Dani were back in that car, talking. So sure, they’re not talking conspiracy or papa Reese, but at least they’re working together, alone together, and it’s something they haven’t done that often this season, and something I couldn’t have been happier to see back on the show.
Adding to that Charlie wondering if Reese was pretending to be herself and whatnot, and it couldn’t get any better. This was so good, that I actually didn’t mind so much that Charlie and Tidwell seems to be friend somehow nowadays. I mean, if only for the look on Dani’s face when Tidwell said he got and liked her new nickname, I had to be fine with it. Of course I’m a sucker for this, from day one I loved to just see Dani’s reaction to things and how, just like then, she can convey a lot of how she feels without saying a word. I don’t know how she does that, but Sarah Shahi always nails it to the perfection each time!
That being said, where does that friendship between Crews & Tidwell comes from ? Are they pals now, even though last week Tidwell was all pissed about Charlie “not remembering” who shot him, something that, as far as everyone but Charlie and us is is concerned, hasn’t evolved at all !
And maybe this case wasn’t all that new, and especially if you’re watching too much TV than you should, you could see things coming, like the good old homeless being not only the killer, and the star everyone thought dead. Actually , if you’re watching too much TV you probably thought Patty was actually his daughter, or was that just me? Question remains though, what motives did he had for killing ? Just that he’s a crazy old man, who all of a sudden after years decided that he couldn’t take it anymore and had to kill the guy ?

heh, that was a very good episode!
The music.
Awesome: I really love heavy metal and rock music so this ep was a pleasure for my ears.
The love.
Tidwell loves her. Really loves her.
I thinks his declaration to the bottles are perfectly in character: he’s so silly sometimes… :)
And I think Dani got it. That he loves her, I mean.
And Oh yes, he’s definitely here to stay! And I’m happy the writers are showing his real *him*. I *knew* he was like that! I wrote a fic in which he throws all his alcohol away for her, because I felt like he was the kind of guy who would have done that. And he did it into the show. You cannot imagine my happyness.
Okay: stop talking about Tidwell. (<3)
The partnership.
Awesome! Why are you going to split them, why NBC, WHY?!?
The mask.
Now Charlie has a masquerade car and he wears a mask too. It’s a disturbing prospect for the future.
You know what? I think I like Tidwell (sorry Fred, he’s always turning in my mind…. :P) because he doesn’t wear any mask and he has never done that. He appears for what he is, even when he’s not good.
Dani being always at Tidwell’s place.
I like to see them not only at the station. I like their interaction at Tidwell’s house, and I like they let us imagine how their sexual relationship is. Maybe this is the part I like more.
And she definitely bosses him! Heh, like that guy said “she’s an aggressive (and *dominant* I’ll say…) female!”
OMG, how I loved this ep….
Yeah, it was a good episode. And I agree, the music was different from what we usually get, to better fit with the episode’s theme, and it worked – as always – really well.
About Tidwell: I think it would probably have worked much better if he had been like he is now from day one. They introduced him as a clown, someone who couldn’t possibly be taken seriously as their boss, which is also why I hated him that much, and why that Dani would be interested felt off so much.
Still a great show, no doubt. Such a shame that this might be the last season already…
“About Tidwell: I think it would probably have worked much better if he had been like he is now from day one”
You know, I think their idea was to make him grow slowly during the season, but they definitely made some mistakes.
“Such a shame that this might be the last season already…”
Yes, I’m really sad about that too. Maybe someone will “buy” ‘Life’. It happens for tv-shows, isn’t it?
