How I Met Your Mother: Mosbius Designs

By fred | April 14, 2009

How I Met Your Mother(S04E20) Before we talk about this episode, let’s talk pregnancy. Both ladies are pregnant (or were at the time of shooting this episode…) and I think this episode at both the best & worst way of “hiding” it. I know that we all know they are pregnant and so we can play along and pretend we don’t see nothing, because this is a TV show and we know it.

But seriously, at least with Lilly they’ve tried to hide it, putting a globe or lots of basketballs in front of her, or have her eat like crazy to win some contest or something. This week, however, they apparently decided that, expect for the occasional bag in front of her belly, Robin didn’t need to do anything to hide it. Well, let me tell you, she did. Oh yeah, she was showing…

It actually ended making me laugh a little, because she was so obviously pregnant and yet nobody noticed it, even though she wasn’t doing anything to hide it. On the other hand though, the way she “hide” it with Lilly was just awesome : they hide Lilly. A bad joke, she’s offended, and she goes missing for 4 weeks. It’s hilarious, but does that mean she won’t be back for the rest of the season??

As for “the” joke, the difference between peanut butter and jam, I’m sure there are different version of it, but the basic and dirty idea is: I can’t “peanut butter” it up your ass!

Alright, on to the episode. Now that was a funny one, I really liked it, and I liked that – finally – there was some mention of Barney’s feelings for Robin. I also liked that Lilly couldn’t resist and told Marshall about it, even though what this means is that, while not everybody knows who knows and who doesn’t, only Robin doesn’t know. Lilly knew first, then Ted, and now Marshall (well, I’m not sure when she told him, but regardless) so they better fully address this soon, and not just by having Lilly & Marshall sit on the same side so Robin & Barney have to, because that may be sweet, but not it’s enough.

What this episode was, for the most part, is a confirmation of what everybody is on the show : Ted is a douche. A huuuuge douche. It’s easy to forget, because he hangs with everyone and he’s the “star” of the show, but that guy is a real douche. To have him “hire” a guy – yes, a guy – to sit two feet from him and play secretary, and to go all “wisdom walk” and shit on him, my God this guy’s a douche!

Marshall is sports’ guy. This whole thing was just funny, and I loved how eventually everyone working there was a “thing guy” but Barney. The guy’s Barney Stinson, he is awesomeness turned into a living thing, he doesn’t need anything else, right? I mean, how much did you love his, wait for it, admittance, wait for it, to Marshall, wait for it, about, wait for it, Robin!? And of course, he doesn’t “love” her, just misses her whenever she’s not around and thinks about her all the time and imagine they’ll be one day running towards each other in slow motion… of course.

I was also glad to see the “wait for it” gimmick, which hadn’t been used in a while, or am I mistaking on that one? I also absolutely loved Barney getting annoyed about Robin sleeping with some guy, his delivery was, as usual with NPH, perfect: “I told you. Hire a cute assistant you can sleep with. But instead you hire a cute assistant that Robin can sleep with. And of course he’s gonna sleep with her, Ted look at her, she’s the greatest woman on the planet! I’m getting off topic, you’re an idiot! That’s my message, you’re an idiot! — No, one person storming off isn’t enough, Marshall storm off with me!

Dude, that guy’s awesome. And how awesome is that place, where apparently every once in a while a ninja walks in, and when he does you better run! By the way, if you’re not into sports, why not try the Fantasy Fantasy League instead?

All in all a very good episode, the only bit I didn’t like that much would be that after the best break up ever – and by that I mean the worst one, of course – Ted went and hired him back, so of course he slept with Robin again, blah blah blah. But it all ended well, I can’t wait for more, and that better include some Barney/Robin development. Or a goat.

What did everybody else think?
