House: It’s A Wonderful Lie

So, maybe I should mention the case and the medical mystery a little ?
Okay. So a few things to say about that. I thought it was a pretty solid one, and while Janel Moloney was really good as the mother, I think Liana Liberato, who played her daughter, was even more impressive. Her performance was great, and she had quite a few moments to shine. First, I liked the little sex talk with House, that was pretty funny. But obviously her best thing was when she told her mother that she was dying and things were not going to be okay.
It may have been cold and brutal, but it was pretty great. And I loved to see how it got House confused, impressed even, by what he had witness : someone telling the truth, nothing whole truth and nothing but the truth, and someone who did it because she actually cared, without any twisted manipulative thoughts in mind, unlike the way he does it.
It was all good, and I’m no medical expert - far form it - but still a couple of things kinda bugged me. First, the bone marrow aspiration. I’m not sure of how it actually goes, but is a drill really needed ? I know it was here for the plot, but isn’t that usually done using a special long needle, as seen before on E.R. or, well, House ?
Second, and that may not really relate to anything actually medical, but the ending really disappointed me. I love the show, I really do, but I have to admit that this ending was way too forced, like they had to follow that good old formula where House notices something , says or is being told something, something that has nothing to do with the actual case yet it clicks in his brain, he sees a relation with his case and finds the miracle solution at the last minute !
I want people to die. Yeah, that’s not nice, but while I understand that House needs to find out what was going on, what was wrong with the patient, I really wish that sometimes he would do so but there would simply be no cure. Or, he would only find out too late. It can be “the patient is dead” too late, or just “we’re a week” too late, even two days, I don’t care how long, but too late.
I know it happened already in the past, but those were exceptions. Not that I want it to become the new rule, or to have impressive odds, but it would be so much better if the patient to die was at least a probability, if there was at least one chance out of even 10 that they would not be able to save him. And I was happy to see this episode was heading that way again, until that stupid ending ruined everything as House would milk behind the mother’s knee. No yeah, he did, really.
But despite all that, plus maybe the fact that it wasn’t actually the last scene we saw, I really liked this episode. It was another episode of House, and as they all are, just like House himself is, it was brilliant ! I love this show, this is without a doubt my favorite show of all, and I can’t wait for what’s next to come !
