House: Frozen
By fred | February 4, 2008
Okay, one good thing came out of it, one hilarious line that really had me laughing out loud : when House complained to Cameron that he wanted his cable back - oh and by the way, him “wasting supplies” was incredibly lame - she told him he would have to do with broadcast networks alone, to which he replied : “I’ll be fine on Tuesdays.” Get it? And somehow the fact that it happens, exceptionally, on a Sunday, makes it even better !
But let’s forget about that and focus on the medical case of the week. That won’t be no problem, because this week if House had a team it was made of Foreman and Wilson. And Cate, which was mostly a patient but also sometimes a part of the team.
But Cate was unlike any other patient House even had, because something incredible happened this time : House cared. He actually cared for her, he really liked her. Of course he didn’t go anywhere, it couldn’t go anywhere, but it was pretty incredible to see while it lasted (although I still whish we’d see Marie, or whatever her name was, from last week coming back…).
Right from the start House got “interested” in her, right when as soon as she met him she started to stand up to him and do so exactly in the way she should :
“
- You do realize that only one of us is a real doctor ?
- You do realize only one of us has any control over my actions ?
”
Right there he perceived that she wasn’t like any other patient, and right there he started to let his guard down a little. I even think House may have been a little jealous at some point, after he found out the other guy stuck down there with Cate was in love with her too. House was behaving in very unusual manners for him, as Wilson pointed out to nicely when he remarked that House called her with her name !
That sounds like nothing, but coming from House it couldn’t make more sense. And it was also time for another great “inside” joke, as House replied to Wilson : “Just trying to move things along, Bob!” Wilson is portrayed by Robert Sean Leonard, so he is Bob. House definitely cared for his patient this time, and that was a pretty unique thing to watch.
It was, and it also proved House right : caring (for your patient) is bad, caring makes you act stupid and make mistakes. In this case, because he liked her House agreed to let her keep her socks on, and it turns out that the consequences of that little thing were almost deadly ! House just proved himself right : a doctor should not care for his patient, it will be bad for the case, and the patient in the end. Although, again, we shouldn’t care about that last part.
And of course I have to mention the shocking revelation that came on the end of the episode : all along House suspected knew that Wilson was dating someone. He was happy, he was wearing that lavender shirt, and that whole scene was another really great & funny one by the way. House knew Wilson was seeing someone, but couldn’t figure out who she was. Still, Wilson’s “your mama” jokes were hilarious; and how about him literally running away from House !
And and the end we got to find out who it was, and I’m sure some people will be pleased to see her back, and I’m sure she was not on House’s list : Cutthroat bitch ! Or Amber. That’s, cool, I guess. I just don’t want her back on the team or even near the hospital for that matter. Nothing personal, but look at this episode : Cuddy was barely around, the new team was stuck in a filler so they could get Cameron to have something to do, and there’s still Chase hidden in a corner somewhere, ready to jump in. No, we really don’t any another character in the mix, I don’t think, not before they can work out the current situation (bye bye Chase, bye bye Cameron).
