Heroes: The Second Coming [season premiere]
By fred | September 23, 2008
(S03E01) So I was not really all that excited about the return of Heroes, because as far as I’m concerned the show didn’t start to suck last season, but with that first crappy finale they pulled at the end of the very first season. That was already incredibly bad, and worse than that it had some kind of retroactive effect, because it suddenly made the entire first season look bad.
Then came what could only come after that : an awful season premiere, and a second season completely boring and stupid. As far as this show goes, we can all thanks the writers’ strike for ending everyone’s suffering and putting an end to this non-sense soon enough.
And now begins “Villains”…
Not excited, but curious. Oh yeah, I was curious, and so I intended to watch those two first episodes in a row and then talk about them. But then something happened : I pressed “play”.
Oh God, why did I ever do that ? I should have known better. No really, even with low expectations this was a disappointment, nothing makes sense, they start plots and stories in about every possible direction to try to look complicated and filled with depth, but what we see is a mess that goes nowhere and ends up more boring than anything else.
Sure, Heroes isn’t the only show where stuff don’t make no sense, 24, Prison Break, take your pick. But those shows have something going on for the : at least it’s fun to watch ! Hell, as much as I don’t like this season of Prison Break, even I have to admit that, compared to this, Prison Break isn’t doing so bad after all!
So in the future Claire is all in dark, to show things got bad, but don’t expect that to mean she’s got a brain, or maybe Sylar actually messed things up in there, because she apparently really thought she could just shoot Peter. Yeah, except for the fact that he can teletransport himself anywhere or anytime he wants to, he can freeze time, he – much like her – can not die…
Then, in a boring filler we had Claire vs Sylar. Cool? Not really, because for some reason he decided to take an awful long time to do his things, letting her knock him down a few times, and then when she goes to “lock” herself up in the storage room, he decides he just can’t possibly force his way in. Or use his powers to. Right.
So it appears that Sylar doesn’t eat brain, that would be disgusting indeed, no he just, um, “looks” at them. You know, just like he could look at a watch and know what was wrong and how to fix it, he can look at a brain and see what’s different, and then just have his own brain work the same. Or something. (And even if there’s nothing to see, really.)
Also he can’t kill Claire, not even if he wanted to, because she’s the light or something. Okay, so the whole first season about saving the cheerleader, that meant crap actually, since there’s just no way the cheerleader could have actually died, like ever. Awesome.

holy crap!
this was really annoying!!!!!!
i watched it because of the same reason, i was curious. and this was totally dissapointing.
what the hell are those drawings with a world exploding everywhere? hahaha they looked so cheap! like everything on this show. The casting here i think it was the worst in the world. And well, the story it´s just bullsh*t! besides i think it´s a copy of the 4400 now. Everyone will get an ability and who knows… a big mess or something.
crap crap crap!
i blame myself for watching this anyway…
heheh
take care mate.
“British girlfriend”
She was Irish. That’s offensive to us Irish
Okay, so she was Irish, sorry. This wasn’t meant to be offensive in any way, obviously, I just didn’t really remember more than that. Which is still more that what the writers remembers it seems…
I knew you didn’t mean to be offensive. Irish don’t like being thought of as British. Probably the same as Canadians being thought of as American.
It genuinely pisses me off how popular this show is. It doesn’t have an original story in it at all.
I just bought the Supranos box set of every episode. Do you watch the Supranos Fred? Or the Shield?
Yeah, I also have a hard time understanding why this show keeps being so popular and why people seem to be under the impression that it’s gotten better than last season. It hasn’t, at most it’s simply moving faster so people don’t think it’s slow, that’s all.
Anyways, as the The Sopranos & The Shield those are indeed two excellent shows, and – oddly enough – two shows that I couldn’t/didn’t start watching back when the premiered, and I have been running late in catching up! (some much TV, so little time… I’m ashamed, yes.)
