Heroes: The Kindness of Strangers

By fred | October 17, 2007

Heroes(S02E04) Ok, I finally could watch the latest episode of Heroes, so I did. I usually don’t really feel like spoiling things too soon, but I’ve had this theory and I’ve seen it formulated by others as well pretty much as soon as the first season’s finale ended, and it feels just right.

Back at the beginning, Heroes was a promising new series. It was, and it had potential. Along the way they probably realized that a large potion of their audience if not most of it was made of teenagers. From that point on, instead of trying to write good television and challenge viewers’ expectations, as they do on other series, they simply decided to go for their audience, please them with cheesy lame cliché stories (teenagers probably don’t realize how lame it really is, maybe they never even seen those before!) and meet all their expectations.

They don’t challenge you, they (try to) make you feel smart by using incredibly lame and/or predictable plots. They don’t bother with writing good scripts, and they really think their viewers are as dumb as fuck.

As showed by the season one finale, or this second season.

Needless to say, this episode sucked. This show is now a real piece of crap if you ask me. Oh yeah, there was no sign of Peter nor Hiro this time. Which is good, because those two characters are now stuck in their own stories, alone apart from the rest of the show, and none of them are interesting. But it wasn’t enough to save the show, far from it.

Claire & co

Producers must force writers to keep that story on there so much because of Hayden and the buzz she generates, because I really can’t see the point. What we’re watching is pretty much the same as last year. Everyone is lying to everyone, Bennet is looking at new disturbing paint of the future but of course he doesn’t talk to Claire about it, despite their claim for honestly and all that, he spies on her instead, plans secret trip to the other side of the World… nothing’s changed.

It’s like season one all over again, only we’ve seen it already, and we know had bad it ended.

Also, I don’t trust that West guy, he looks… untrustworthy. And don’t even get me started on that stupid date, that was so lame I couldn’t believe it. What the fuck was that whole thing & line, I don’t want to see you got hurt ? What a piece of crap! I wonder for how long he was planning such a lame thing… Jesus.

BTW, tell me her father did not buy into that awful lie of hers, about cheer leading (because she’s legal now, so they want her back into her cheer leader outfit. Plus it will also remind everyone of last season, when things were better). And Claire, how can she say things like “I did everything else you asked” ?? Let’s rewind a little, shall we.

> Here’s a brand new car for you, drive safe, don’t forget to close & lock the doors when you leave.
- Dad, I got my car stolen! But it’s not my fault, I left it open with the keys on, how could I know??

> Claire, the most important thing is not to be noticed. Play it low, stay under the radar!
- Oh, look, a flame. Let’s put my hand right inside. And stand out to popular girls. And make a scene and rush out of a class room. And screaming “I’m a freak” loud and clear every hour.

And things aren’t gonna improve, I mean when the both fly out they don’t even try to hide it so it shouldn’t take long until someone notices it. You could say it was so that they explained to the stupid viewers that they did not just vanished, but flew away, because viewers are so stupid they could never have figured this out, but it wasn’t their first time. Oh no it wasn’t… nor was it their last I’d say.

Man, i love your blog. You really make me laugh!

    About Heroes… well… it sucks.
i´m just watching it because i need time to pass by till lost starts again. Gotta say this series has become some kind of mix of every series/movie around:

Sylar was in a jungle like Ben Linus and the Others (Lost)

The twins from Honduras (they are not from mexico, huh!) and the crappy music they play when they are showed remind me of Prison Break season 3 in Sona, Guatemala (also in central america).

West… come on! is this guy Superman as a kid ? That´s awful.

Hiro… I was also thinking what you said, this is “Back to the Future” but a crappy version (and i´m kind of tired of japanese). I wonder were Biff and the Doc. are!

The gay couple… man, that was funny.
i did not realize till i read you. Yeah.. i´m stupid sometimes ! hehe
Matt Parkman is a detective now, and he has “adopted” molly. Hmmm something smells like the 4400 ! Is he the detective Skouris and Molly isn´t really Molly and she is Maia?

    Awful awful awful!
i would stop watching this series, but i don´t want to lose your rewievs.

    Thanx for everything!
