Heroes: Powerless
By fred | December 4, 2007
(S02E11) So that was it, the season finale of this pretty awful - and highly shortened - second season of Heroes. I’ve explained in the past how I wasn’t rooting for the show as I used to back in the good days of season one, because there’s simply been too much too often for me to let it slide. With that said, I was still wondering about this finale and what would finally happened, would things finally get good and interesting, or would they keep on the same path as the season so far.
I know many have said that the recent episodes of the season were good and that Heroes was back to its usual standard - read season one style - but I was never there. I don’t agree, because while yes those recent episodes were not as bad as the first ones of the season, things were still bad. And just because there’s improvement doesn’t mean things have became good.
In fact, they haven’t. Let’s be honest, this episode while not as awful as the season premiere and what soon followed, was far from being good - especially for a finale. This was once again the proof of how the show is being written, and as I explained in the past I simply do not enjoy it.
This show doesn’t try to surprise viewers as things move on, it doesn’t try to get us interested and excited with plots and mysteries while proving some incredible moments of excitations where we would be watching and simply going “wow!” It’s not trying to challenge our expectations and blow our minds away with twists that no one saw coming, and yet still fits the show (as no one wants pure made-up crap); but just to meet the viewers’ expectations, so that they feel smart and pleased.
The perfect example here would be Sylar : from the beginning of the season people have been waiting for him to get back to its usual evil self, we’ve all been waiting for him to get his abilities back so that things would get exciting again, and what did we got here ? Just that. In a quite boring way. Sylar eventually got his abilities back, as we expected him to years ago, and it happened without any twists or “wow”-ing moments. Sure, it was a relief to see him finally show his true side and shoot Maya when she started to be annoying again, but beside that little fact it was almost boring. Plus, she didn’t even stay dead!
And don’t ask about how and why the Company sent him wherever they sent him when they did so, nor how he escaped to find the annoying twins, because none of those were answered, obviously. But let’s take a look at all that’s happened this time, shall we.
Micah, Monica, Nikki…
While pretty much all of the stories mixed or crossed path one way or another at some point during this hour, there was one that still was alone on his side, and I’m sure no one cared about that one so let’s get it out right now.
Time to party people : Nikki’s dead ! I sure hope she really is. Sorry Micah, but her character served no purpose whatsoever, she was annoying and all storyline she was involved in went no where, and she wasn’t eve stripping anymore so really, it’s about time. I’m only sorry for Micah, because as we’ve seen his ability - especially in our world where “machines” or computer-based system rule everything - is a pretty damn cool one ! And, he doesn’t even need to touch things to ask them for favors apparently…
And now that both his parents are dead, he’s not even free cause he has to deal with Monica, that stupid girl who I whished died in the explosion as well. In fact, let’s make this a full family pack and have Peter meet with Micah so he can grab that cool ability, and then kill them all : Micah, Monica, any annoying cousins, everyone of them. Thank You.

No way Fred !
i saw it
i have just finished it !!!
what a bunch of crap
hahha
seriously the worst season i´ve ever seen.
and you are to blame too, mate.
why?
because whenever i saw a chapter i fell asleep and i´ve missed a few of those lame details you always post here. So… are you a hero who can see mistakes everywhere or what? :P
hahaha
i totally agree with you about the subtitle thing.
well maybe it´s just that i´m used to subtitles but i think it´s much better on the original language. I also find it to be way to unreal when EVERYBODY speaks english. Sona in prison break is the perfect example. How come those guys (yeah, the jailed ones) without education can speak so good english??? I´m pretty sure they can barely speak spanish (their mother tongue for those ignorants out there).
Something i´ve noticed and i think it´s worth mentioning is that sylar says that this chick from honduras is from southamerica. ha !!! Honduras is in central america, tim kring or whoever wrote this crap. then how can we expect people to think there is something else outside when things like this happen? hahahahahah
and sorry fred but i did not like the sylar stuff.
i don´t even see a future on this show.
i just want Lost to come back.
i miss Lost !!!!
take care mate
ps: fred, where do you live??
ps2: parkman saying to peter “he is evil”. he just needed to say “i´ll call my mom” to make my day. Next time maybe…
ps3: i´m glad parkman at least died on Lost :P
hehe… thanks, well, I’m glad you found a way to enjoy that season anyways ;)
As for Sylar, or the future of the show, quite frankly I doubt this show can really be any good, because the people behind it don’t seem to have any clues what they’re doing !
That said, depending on how things go, I might still watch next season, given how I’m a TVoholic and, yeah, I’ll admit it might be fun to hate this show! ;)
PS: Yeah, I didn’t want a butchered half-season, I was ready to wait as long as it would take to get the real deal, the complete season, as dreamt by the writers… but now that it won’t happen, needless to say I’m getting pretty excited about next Thursday as well!!
PPS: I’m from France actually.
