Gossip Girl: The Dark Night
By fred | September 16, 2008
(S02E03) Good morning, Upper East Siders! Last night we had another episode of the always delicious guilty pleasure that is Gossip Girl, and I’m not sure what to think of this episode to be honest. It was a logical progression into the direction that every story lines had been taking over the past episodes, quite a lot happened for pretty much every character, and as always it was filled with lies, manipulations and other bitchy moves.
That being said, I’m not sure that I really liked the episode, because many if not all of the things that actually took place were very predictable, which left us watching an episode pretty much never wondering where this was going to go next, because we knew already. Adding to that that not all the plots do interest me, and I didn’t feel this to be the best episode ever.
But of course, as with any GG episode, there was lots to enjoy!
As I said, so much happened I’m sure I will be missing out on a lot, but let’s try to cover a bit of everything, going through each of the many characters the show features, while we’re all still desperately waiting for Lilly to come back; or is it just me? I don’t know, does any of you wonder when she will finally be back, and how that honeymoon of hers went ? I’ve always liked her, and the couple that couldn’t be she made with Rufus, so I’m pretty curious myself.
Of course, Rufus is going out on dates of his own now, but that’s only because he’s lonely, and she’s married. Doesn’t mean that he wouldn’t drop everything to run away with Lilly in a heartbeat, as I’m sure he would if he could / she would too.
Let’s start with “the” couple of the show, Dan & Serena. We all knew they would have to eventually talk and go over everything that they didn’t want to talk about, because making out and stuff is just so much more fun. But it was coming, we knew it, and the way it happened was (a) extremely predictable - I mean who didn’t see the power outage coming trapping them inside the elevator long before they got there? - (b) somewhat disappointing, because after it all it ended just like that, without even saying anything, and finally (c) a freaking relief!
I mean seriously, Serena deserves better than this jerk. Could you believe the crap he pulled about mentioning her name ? Wake up, dude, of course rich people get things you don’t, and get better treatment, and faster cars, it’s been like this forever! No your name won’t get anything done, but for one wealthy client of the hotel they will do something! Blaming her, again, for who she is or how the world works, using that as an excuse for misogynistic macho crap ? Good riddance.
Side note: I did however liked the whole scene with the little teenage girls in the park commenting about their relationship, which they have been reading all about on Gossip Girl’s blog, and picking sides. Now that was just fun, really good laughs. Also, seeing how this whole romance went nowhere, of course, (even though I’m sadly not sure we have seen the last of it,) I kinda miss Georgina.
