Gossip Girl: Summer, Kind Of Wonderful [season premiere]

Blair hooking up with a guy only to make Chuck jealous and not caring for one second about the guy himself, because she doesn’t need to, is another classic Blair move. I absolutely loved the way she told him : “Chuck is an awful person, he does terrible things, he uses people!” Priceless! And of course her admitting that she finds him boring, and didn’t even listen to him, was pretty great as well.
And how Blair of her to change her mind about dumping him as soon as she found out he wasn’t James after all, but a Lord Markus! (Though I’m not sure how I feel about that one…) And to end with this plot, the final scene where B & C are facing up, and she’s asking him to say those three words, “three words, eight letters, say it, and I’m yours!” but, alas, he can’t, was terrific. She really wanted him to, she hoped he would, and I’m sure he did too, but he couldn’t. Chuck is doomed, because he’s Chuck Bass. As much as he may love the idea of being with someone, as much as he may feel for Blair, he can’t get himself to commit, it’s too much for him.
In other words, during the first season it got there already, but now it’s 150% certain : I can’t stand Dan. Jee, what a prick! I can’t believe Serena is still willing to come back to him after all he’s done and keeps doing to her, all the time.
Okay, let’s rewind a little bit: so while everyone went up to the Hamptons, Dan stayed behind and apparently overnight became the new Casanova. I don’t know how he did it, but apparently all the girls left in the city thought he was the new Chuck Bass or something! Seriously, the idea of him dating a new girl each day is so hilariously out of character there’s no way anyone actually bought it, I mean come on, did you?
Anyways, he’s had time to think about things, like the way he treated Serena for starter, that’s in fact about the only thing he’s had to do over the summer, but he still hasn’t changed a bit. He remains that pretentious, hypocritical, self-righteous jerk who really thinks he’s so much better than the rest of the world it gives him a right to look down and judge everyone. And he loves to do so, especially to Serena.
He sure loves to make her not feel worthy of his Highness, doesn’t he? I mean the way he started to rant on her again after he saw her kissing Nate was something, but when you consider what he’s supposedly been doing all summer, a different girl every night, that’s even worse! It’s a good thing it came back right in his face at least a little, but I think it’s time Serena realizes she deserves better than him, especially if he’s not willing to change.
Other than that, not much to say really. Little J is trying a different approach to her dream world, I’m happy to see her be nice again, and friends with Eric. But we didn’t get to see much anyways, Lily or Vanessa were completely MIA, and the whole plot about Nate being with an older women sounds incredibly boring to me. I’m not sure if it’s because everyone’s doing it these days, and it’s already quite boring on Weeds, but results are the same. I’ll just say that the opening scene seemed like the show was trying to play the sex card much like the latest ads, but that’s still not enough to get better than a meh.
In the end though it was a good episode, I’m glad the show is back, and I can’t wait to find out more about how Chuck & Blair are gonna work this all thing out. Also, I’m curious as to what happened with Lily…
