Gossip Girl: Bonfire Of The Vanity

By fred | November 11, 2008

Gossip Girl(S02E10) Some things do change on Gossip Girl, characters evolve, one day you love them and the next you hate them. The only ones with whom things seem most consistent are Dan and Serena, I never really liked them (especially Dan) and although they were meant to be “the” couple of the show for a moment, it never really took, not for me anyway, they were more boring than cute.

But for others, things are constantly evolving and changing, the best example in date being without a doubt Little Jenny. She used to be the perfect girl, and changed quite a lot during the last few weeks as she decided to quit school for her job, and then quit her job to live her dreams. Oh yeah, things are moving fast for our Little J, and I may not have always liked her choices, I was behind her.

Because she was still a good girl, she just wanted to live her dreams, her passion, she saw the chance of a lifetime at her doorstep and wasn’t willing to let it go. Despite Rufus’ reaction last week, I don’t think she ever meant to hurt anyone, she was still good a heart. When he tried to have her arrested, because he was failing at being a father and didn’t know what to do, he was clearly wrong and I was supporting Jenny all the way.

Which is probably why I was so disappointed this week by the way things turned out. Because unlike what had happened so far, this week Jenny turned evil, she went bad and become what her father accused her to be last week. So we saw her and Agnes in a meeting, and apparently they needed to talk about a few things, like the name of their future company, because they weren’t really on the same page.

Which sounded absolutely amazing to me, for many reasons. The first of all, being that this was pictures at clearly not being the first (or even second) meeting they went to where such disagreements came in the way, and I find it mind-blowing that at the very least after the first one, they didn’t take 5 minutes to work things out and make sure such a mess wouldn’t happen again.

Secondly, Agnes might have been involved a lot in everything so far, Jenny does do the design so it should be her name only, even with Agnes as an equal partner. Not to mention last week, during their little show, they sent out cards, flyers and pictures to everyone and it clearly said “J Humphrey Designs” on it, so why change now??

That being said, it seems like Jenny was mad at Agnes and yelling at her, even though she’d only been acting like she always does, partying first, while Jenny was… waiting at home. Hasn’t she been working in that world for a little while now herself as well ? Couldn’t she have been trying to get things moving on her own and get meetings as well ?

More importantly, why oh why did she have to turn evil ?? She stabbed Agnes in the back without any problem, while she does owe her everything. Agnes is the one who encouraged Jenny to dare and start this journey, supporting her while no one else would, and if Jenny made the designs and dresses, Agnes took care of everything else ! She came up with the idea of the show, made it happen, made the videos and pictures, got the models, absolutely everything. And still, Jenny just goes behind her back and stabs her just like that, while still living at Agnes’ place !!??

Really?? I mean she could have talked to Agnes, she could have gone and said they had worked out their problems without getting ride of Agnes like that, that was really awful, and of course Agnes wasn’t gonna be happy about it. I was really disappointed in Jenny on that one, because she wasn’t reaching for her dreams anymore, but using and back-stabbing people, those very people who helped and supported her when she needed it.

And then, she shows up back at home and the first thing she does is to try to pull some emotional blackmail on her father, agreeing to come home only if he signs the paper ?? Of course he did not, on this one I think he was right, I’m behind him now! Now Jenny has lost her ways, and trying to get ride of her parents really isn’t going to help. Maybe Dan should have a talk with her instead or something. By the way, where does Jenny live now ??

Snorena is a crazy useless bitch and looks like a horse. She deserves that rat faced loser Aaron (Dan was too hot for her anyway, so quit your fucking bitching about him). They both need to fall down a sewer and die in their own waste.
